Snowtrails terrain park tease *HYPE*HYPE*

so this past weekend, we sat down and figured out what was goin on in the terrain parks this season.

it is good. very good.

i dont think i wanna let the cat outta the bag JUST yet, but i think i will hint at what will be goin on...

3 jumps, all hitable in a line (plus one big, "coincidental" one)

a soulution to the drop in ramp (no more freakin hiking up that damn thing)

new rails

totally new creative setups for existing rails

a legit smaller park that not only wont suck, but may actually be fun for all.

AND THAT DFD is getting ripped apart to be replaced with a bigger better one.

so go get your passes, and rest assured this years park will kick just as much ass as it always has.

Man thats tight, I kind of get tired of rails so it wil be tight to have some jumps to huck it off of. Is there any chance of anything being done with the pipe. I have having to drive so far when snow trails is like 5 min away.

Shit, are you serious?? I want to get up there right now!! Ski pass isn't doing anything without snow... C'MON!! SNOW! So Pumped!

Is there any chance in hell that we can get a layout of what features will be where? I am dying, rumor has it there will be some hidden gaps?

fine. we don't have any decent drawings done, but i SUPPOSE i could list the layout

FROM THE TOP

rail line, on the skiers right

single barrel, steeper, 30 ft street rail and a new, mellower, longer DFD rail

into the trap rail and a 30 ft Double barrel Flat, pencil rail possible (its gonna be set up with the lip at 45degrees, so you like jump on from the side, and it will be a big ass cigar if we get our way lol)

OFS 8ftr rail, maybe the rainbow, which will be set up similar to the rainbow in Mahres segment in War

the rail line is still up for debate on placement, we really need to walk the hill to get it placed.

somewhere in there, the A frame rail is getting set up, with one "leg" being extended down to make an 8ft wall ride.

as for the jump line, the first jump is gonna be roughly 25 ft, true table top, where the lip and landing are roughly the same hight. the old street rail will be placed along side of the jump, as a up rail to gap to landing.

that will carry down into the highline jump (approx 45), wich we are thinkin will have one BIG ASS wide lip VS 2 small ones. this jump will be located directly next to the table the 8ft OFS rail will built on. *wink*wink* the distance between lip of highline and the landing of the OFS rail will be roughly 60 ft. wax your skis for that one.

after highline, you bomb down to where the step up was. in its place will be a 60 ft table, with a second, more vert lip on the right side of the jump. therefore you can either take the whole distance, or hip it to the right.

with this setup, hittin all three jumps should be very easy, even if you scrub some speed on the landings.

nothing is set in stone yet, but this is where we want to take it.

the only jump that size that's ever been at snowtrails required a 50 mile per hour take off and a snowmobile. maybe add a couple hundred vertical feet if you want to have a jump that size that's more than an ornament.

that seems unrealistic for snowtrails, we dont have enough speed or snow, and it would be cool, but if it worked it would be too hard to maintain.

sounds sick but i hope it works out after hearing these guys sayin it wont w/ those jumps and speed and everything

we have the speed as well as the snow.. they wasted a shit ton of snow on the high line low line jump last year w/ bad placement on the hill.. it wont we hard to maintain because we have what ppl like to call a park crew where all they do it maintain the park and they will be working there asses off this year.. and if u still dont believe us just wait till the park opens!!

that rail line alone suonds sick...i cant wait to ride. hopefully if i keep working out this winter the last month im going to be able.... and mark is right. 60 ft isnt gonna happen

yeah it can happen.. there was a 50ft step up last year and a 60 ft jump that floats u will be able to clear it..

obviously you're not a golfer. dude take a physics class... it's going to be impossible to clear a 60 foot jump with the 35 mph max speed we have. also, the step up was far less than 50 feet. and about the park crew comment you made earlier, i think we did a pretty damn good job keeping shit in good shape last year. but if you guys can do better, by all means, knock yourselves out.

I think the point is more of using it as hip rather than clearing the whole 60 foot. It just gives you the extra room to go rather on the hip. Should be tight though. Lasts years setup was good. I didnt like the DFD but it didnt really matter to me because I cant hit anything that big.

man, lets not go startin any arguments! as for the size of jumps, 60 ft is ALOT for that place. i am well aware of that. thats why it will be a hip. most people wont be able to clear 60 fters on beat up park skis, but it will be there for those that have fast skis and can pump into it. and its def. possible to go that far, ive gone that far on highline plenty of times, dingess has boosted the entire thing before, etc. its definatly doable.

i wasnt knocking the way u guys kept the park in shape last year.. i know the weather kinda fucked everything in early-mid january and w/ all that bad weather the park was still the sickest park in the midwest.. so by no means was i saying u guys did a shitty job last year in the park... what i ment by that was with what we want to do this year we r going to have to work our asses off to keep it together..

In regards to having a jump bigger than your hill, dont do it. With our big jump line being as big as it was last year (80, 60, 65-70), the big line was only hitable with the right conditions. The wind had to be at your back, snow had to be fast, and cold. During the regular season, our big line was hitable like 1-2 days a week, huge waste of money. We're downsizing the jumps this year, 60-70 at the very biggest.

the hips measurements are just rough approximations. its gonna be big, but hittable. and if for some reason it isnt on that day or those skis, its a hip, so its always gonna be hitable.

as for the channel gap, i want to have 1 feature that ISNT something that gets sessioned every day. something that is an event when somebody stomps shit over it. thats not gonna be a waste of anything, its just making sure shit is positioned right so that it is possible. for you guys that are worried, i dont know why. this is all planned out so its all gonna be hitable in a line. the only thing that might keep you from having speed is if you scrub on the first landing and dont carry speed into highline. other than that, you will always be able to hit 3 good jumps in a row. the channel gap is just gonna be an "unofficial" feature that is hittable on occasion by the people who know they can do it.

UPDATE: the above plan has been almost entirely scrapped. this seasons park will have some totally unique features, NONE of you have seen before. there will also be 1 new BIG ASS feature. im fairly confident this will be the number 1 park in the midwest. yeah, i said it! expect to see some shit youd never imagine in a park, lots of new rails and everything.

the alpine park is going to be built as a more "traditional" park, with lots of the current rails and features. it aint gonna be strictly a baby park anymore. (think learn the shit here, take it to the westwoods setups)

some other, less topsecret ideas that have been bouncin around:

bleachers to chill on, grills/cookouts, and big jam session days on a fairly regular basis. i think most people are fine with scrapping the big airs, and instead just doing massive Jam days instead.

the one thing i will say, is this: be prepaired to hit the coolest, most inovative jump youve ever laid your double tipped trick skis on.

just remember kiddies that the jam days r going to strictly be for fun. there will be abosoltly no comps or prizes. it will be a day to come and chill eat brats and dogs and ride the park with ur friends.

i like the session days idea but i still think we should throw a big air for carnival. snowtrails big air is one of the best around.

NO BIG AIRS!?!?! FEATURES THAT ITS A BIG DEAL WHEN YOU HIT IT!?!?! WHAT KIND OF JUNK SHOW ARE YOU TRYING TO RUN?!?!?!?

the big airs will still happen.. there is no way we could cancel the big air after the show we put on last year.. plus it is one of the biggest money making events at snowtrails so it will still happen.

i dont get the whole thing about there will be a feature that people can only hit certain days?? but is there goin to be a jumpline that will be easy to hit all of them?

dont worry about the comps and stuff. snowtrails has always had a big air and im sure well still have one this year too but its not the main concern anymore.... the park is gonna be sick and if all goes to plan it will be the most innovative shit youve ever seen.

im goin to snow trails this year cuz they actually know how to make jumps..unlike somebody else (mrm) but now ur saying ur scraped the hole idea of the jump line??? so wut is it now?? is there still gunna be a few jumps i can hit in 1 run or will there only be one

you kids are missing the idea. there isnt gonna be a "jump line". yes, there will be plenty of jumps. yes they will be hitable. but the idea of this park is to have an endless possibilities of different lines through the park. dont expect to see any preset lines you have to take. think skatepark!

Honestly.... too much hype. Sure you can claim sickest park in the midwest, but you'll still be limited on space.

This thread is beat.

hahaha, oh god....

i agree with rich thou, lets kill this thread. its played out, kids are STILL worried there wont be three jumps, people are startin to get all antsy about shit(still think we can pull off best park in the MW thou) and people are just soundin stupid.

bottom line, snowtrails will keep it rolling with better and better parks each year. 06/07 is no exception. THE END.

^ Thanks. Yeah. Just do you thing, make a sick park, and let these kids show up and be stoked. Happy shredding bitches.

love,

Rich.
