Snowshoes

Well yeah i am now a college kid with out a job and a tight budget. So i figure i am only going to be able to afford a lift ticket or two a month. So i want to know if anyone in here has ever snowshoed? Is it a practical way to get up a hill with deep powder? Also does anyone know if it would be possible to strap snow shoes to your ski boots so you don't have to carry them on your pack? Or is this a retarded idea. Thanks for the help.

But yeah...deep snow is what snowshoes are designed for. Plus, it's a great work out if you dont be lazy.

very true shortanconfused, i couldn't afford one right now, and i don't have anyone to go with, so i guess i will take my chances. But does anyone know if you can strap snowshoes on ski boots and still walk???
 
^yes, I think so, the only thing that I would say to get in a snowshoe is ones that have a little metal bar that you can flip up under your heel when you hill climb, they make it so much easier.
 
i snowshoe a fair bit for exercise and stuff but there is no way you'll have fun acting as your own personal lift. unless you find some snowshoes that allow you to wear skiboots with them (i've never seen a pair like that), you're out of luck.

I have a pair of shitty old red feather snowshoes that I found at a used sports store that I can get my boots into. The only ones I’ve seen work for ski boot are shoes with crap bindings, where they just have a large adjustable strap that goes around the back of the foot.
 
Wow, why haven't i thought of that??? OH YEAH...you see when you are in college there are these things that you have to go to everyday called classes, and since i have classes everyday, there isn't time to get a job. Thanks for the idea though.
 
dude just sell some shit and buy a ski pass, especially if you are near a good resort you cant waste that, and buying 2 lift tickets a month for say 4 months at 40 dollars a ticket still amounts to 320 dollars, get a part time job and work 2 hours a day or something, if i were near a resort i would do everything possible to afford a pass
 
The whole thing with getting a job is that in order to quailify as part time you have to work 2 full days a week. So yeah i have had a guy call me from Solitude and tell me that i can work there if i want but i don't have two full days a week that i can work. If anyone knows of a job with a super flexible schedual around Provo, UT let me know.
