Hey, first of all don't flame me for posting this here. mods if you want it posted in regionals forum, add a damn va, wv and nc (midatlantic) section to the regionals forum.

anyways with that said, snowshoe are apparently still opening on saturday, dec 5th. I will be calling to find out tomorow if they will have any park features setup. Is anyone going up/down to go up? im coming over from norfolk. gonna car camp or whatev

yo if u really want to ski and live in VA go to that dryslope place i have been dieing to go there for so long i wish i lived closer.

even if there is, there park is really pretty sub par and sucks for the most part. they ahve some cool features but just dont know how to set them up right

yeah the snowshoe park isn't that good. i live in c ville and ski at wintergreen and we don't have a great park but i's better than snowshoe for sure.

there's a large crew from pa rollin down and they as usual they have a park at snowshoe but since there opening up silvercreek too hopefully they will open mountaineer terrain park also.

worddddd... yea i am just goin because its the only place nearby open. I know there park is either shit or non existent this early. during the season i ski massanutten because it has a dece park. if u need a ride from cville, hit me up, my sister goes to uva so i stop in there on the regular.

anyone else from va want to go?

I grew up on Snowshoe. Truth. My dad was the architect who designed all of the original buildings. We moved up there when they were still putting in the lifts. Just curious, if anyone knows what run they have their terrain park on.

Thx. Skier's right of Gandy Dancer right? Weird run for a park IMO. If I remember right, it had one steep part and the rest was basically flat.

they generally have it set up so the steep part is the run in for the 3 pack of jumps in the flatter part. And if you haven't been there in quite a while, if memory serves correct the start of the trail is not exactly where it was back in the day, its farther down what you might be thinking of as the steeper part

Hey guys I'm bumping this thread really hoping someone can answer me tonight. My family may be going to West Virginia after Christmas for a trip. HOW IS THE PARK AT SHOWSHOE right now? Thanks. I really do not want to drive a long ways to a mountain with a bad park. If you know, give me details about the park.
Thank you

I don't know how much longer it takes, but if you can you should go to app. The parks are so much better here.

It's like a ten hour drive to snowshoe and that's as far as we wanna go. Any word on Snowshoes park right now? any good jumps? a lotta rails? There web site sucks dick for telling you what features they have.
+karma

Assuming things are as they usually are, here's what you're looking at from top to bottom

Park Entrance

2-3 pack of rails, abreast, not a line. You gotta pick one per run.

2- 3 line of kickers

Smaller rails or maybe a QP.

Learning park way downhill from Spruce Glades.

Mountaineer will have a solid halfpipe if they cut it in time for your trip, probably a jump or two, and a few decent rails.

Snowshoe has been really bad about maintaining their features in my experience. Lips are not smooth or well defined, pipe ic cut pretty much once and it is what it is from there on out. Quite a few gapers.

All that said, you'll have a good time there and it will be worth the trip.
