Snowpark Design

We are designing snowparks and snowpark concepts for european ski areas. Many parks in europe are built mainly for snowboarders, our design projects are focused on creating parks more ski friendly.

Because we want to build parks to make users happy and we care a lot about the opinion of what people would like to have in the park it would be nice to get some suggestions what you like the most.

1.which kinds of jibs do you favour the most (rails, t-box, box or pipes)

2.what kind of kinks do you like the most (down flat, FDF.....)

3.what kind of jibs are useless to you

4.which combos would fit best for jibs (rail combos, box to rail, gaps.....)

5.which kind of kickers do you prefer (lot pop, step down, tabletop, less pop....)

6.any things you love to have in a park or you really hate in parks

Any suggestions are welcome, maybe with info on which level freestyle skier you are.

We basically want to get more idea on how you see an ideal park for skiers.

Would be nice to get some info about all your thoughts about parks.

Thnx

Intermediate park skier. I love long flat rails and tubes, most fun for doing new tricks. I see way too many DFD's and would like more DF of FDF. Also if more rails were generally closer to the ground, more beginner and intermediate park skiers would hit them. A mini pipe would be fun, especially with some jibs on the side, a superpipe is not very good for the majority of skiers. Step ups and step overs are the most fun jumps in my opinion.

Spark Notes: Good: Flat, DF, and FDF. Step up and over jumps. Many jibs everywhere.

Bad: Features too risky for non-advanced skiers (features only a select group will hit)

I absolutely agree with you, this was basicly the motivation first to start our company. There where only advanced feautures in the park making it impossible to learn new things. Especially the height of rails are a big toppic I think. We have designed the rails to be 65-70cm now for the higher rails, t-boxes at 50cm and also planned easy rails to learn on of about 35cm.

I think that a kinked rail/box is quite nice to have as well, but it is nice to see that I am not the only one who thinks there are quite too much kinked rails instead of more flat and a few with a kink.

It seems that most of the times people forget that making a trick on a rail makes it more interesting as well and that can be learned only on easier elements.

How would you guys see the ideal number of rails / t-boxes / boxes? 50% rails? What do you think about the lenght of rails?

Cool. And I think that boxes are good, but there needs to be more shapes of boxes because flat boxes and down boxes get pretty boring. (ie. c boxes up-down boxes. rainbow boxes etc.) I personally like long rails, but only if it doesn't feel like I have to get tons of speed for it, because when i get tons of speed for a rail any trick could result in a large fall. A mix of different lengths would be good

imo it really depends on which area you live in. Is it a popular ski town where almost everyone is on skis by the time they're 4 years old? Or is it a place where a lot of inexperienced skiers come just to mess around. Assuming that it's somewhere in between, I'd say have a decent amount (not too many) long, flat rails and boxes that are low to the ground. Then maybe some rails that are a little higher off the ground, maybe a few corrugated tubes (not sure about that though because a lot of people get hurt on those). Definitely have some standard rails like DF, DFD, maybe up flat down? And definitely don't be afraid to put some unique features in such as a long S rail or C box. My home mountain has a long blue tube sticking straight in the middle of a jump and it's super fun to shifty/tail tap against it. Maybe a small staircase too

Everyone loves tube rails from my experience. Especially those big fat tubes that Mammoth has a ton of. Basically any level of park skier will like those.

Also kink boxes like somebody else said are a good idea. C rails are a lot of fun, and just get creative and think of some unique features.

Oh and cannon rails
