Snowpants and ACL Brace Problemo....

Hey girls! So My snow pants are all torn up from last season, so I thought I'd get a new pair. The only problem is I have to wear an ACL brace this season, but I can't find a solid pair that fits my ACL brace underneath! It's always just too tight that I can't fit it around my knee.

So I have some questions...

At least a few of you have probably had ACL tears before or maybe had to wear a brace. So how did you wear your brace with your snow pants? Did you put it over top or underneath? Also if you know of any brands that will fit an ACL brace underneath but not look like poofy kids Costco pants, LET ME KNOW!

I had the same problem!! Ended up trying on a few pairs of burtons, but didn't like the bagginess/waist height and went back to Obermeyer hahaha. I've got the Mariposa pant, which you can probably find online since it was just last years line- but it works like a charm for me. I think the closest thing they've got now is the alpinista? My brace looks a little big around the calf, but I think these flatter and fit well over it. I just use super thin leggings under it these days. Brace is on my right knee, so it bulges a bit as you can see.

Honestly worth it to just go try stuff on and find what works best for you! 846017.jpeg

I have to wear an ACL brace this season too and am having the same problem! The brace fits totally fine under my work uniform (ski instructor) but under my reg ski pants (Saga) I can't even get my pants over my brace. I'm wondering if I should get bigger Saga pants or look at a different brand. I was thinking that Bloom probably would be more fitting, but I'm only like 5ft tall and their pants are sooo long.

What kind of brace do you have? If you find a fitting brand pleeeease let me know

I wear a donjoy ACL brace! and I actually found my old pair of snowpants that I used to wear so I tried them on to see if they fit. They actually fit over and still don't look too bad. I'm not sure if they still make them but they look like they're called snow and earth snowpants. I got them for $40 a few years ago. Maybe they have a new version of them. I actually want to find them in a medium because mine are a bit small.

I have a medium(?) support knee brace and it fits fine under my saga pants. I guess it all depends. Fatigues have this velcro strap by the upper calf/knee area that you can adjust. I don't think this is specifically meant for braces, but I definitely use it to my advantage hahaha.

a velcro strap would help so much by the knee area. If I don't stick with my old snowpants I'll check em out.
 
Quick question to all the ladies with ACL braces, how bulky are yours?

I just got measured for mine and it'll be here in a couple weeks. I have fairly fitted ski pants, they seem like they have enough room to accommodate a brace but I'm not 100% on that. Just from everybody's experience, are they super bulky or more sleek?

they're not too bulky, I find it most bulky on the sides right by knee but the rest of it isn't too bad. Still I thought most snow pants would fit over top but it's pretty hard finding a nice pair that does haha. Good luck girl!

Have you found a pair you like yet? I'm thinking what I have will be fine but it would suck to have to get new pants just to fit a brace.

Yea I'm hoping it won't be too bulky but I've never had a "serious" brace before so, we'll see.

Yeah I'm gonna stick with my old snow pants I found for now (the ones I posted about earlier ^). They're a little bit snug around the brace but I think they'll do. and yeah I totally feel ya, I don't want to spend a lot on snow pants if I'm just getting it for my brace that I won't wear next year. I wanted to get the saga pants with the adjustable part around the knee but I don't have the money rn.

I've been looking at the Fatigues, I think I'll go ahead and order them! Worst case scenario they're too tight and I have to send them back. I'll have a DonJoy support brace, no idea what level of support but probably in the medium level range.

What size do you wear in the Fatigues?

A medium but I'm a fatass so I'm not the best person to compare to haha
