So NS Im guessing some of you out there ride sleds during the winter. looking for one that is reliable and low maintenance. any idea as to what manufacturers and models would be helpful. +K for good answers.
 
depends on where you live im looking for one and i live in summit and im told you beat the crap out of them, but my friend lives in vt and told me he never had a problum with them
 
sooooo I live in michigan right now for my senior year but will probably move somewhere out west for college like CU utah oregon if it help.
 
If you want reliable and low maintanence get a 4 stroke. everyone has their preferences but from my experiences ski doo's blow up as much as Arctic cat's as much as polaris... If you're looking to buy a 2 stroke, expect something to go wrong mechanically, as well as there being a good chance you will do some physical damage too. But they are incredibly fun and worth every penny!
 
I've been riding bikes my whole life so I know the whole 2 vs 4 stroke debate. Don't ride my bikes and quad anymore so it'll probably be a new sled. Another question would be to go with studs or not. my dad has connections with polaris if that helps.
 
No matter what if you ride hard and rev it high you are going to have issues. If you are going to use this for acces to skiing only and not go crazy i would get a 4 stroke. More reliable helps and still hella fun. Also make sure you get a 155ish track or longer. And I prefer ski do. Brp makes great stuff and the rotax engines are really good. If you can get a polaris for cheap though I would they are good but the debate is mainly personal opinion
 
if you want to get stuck, those things have 121 inch track. get something with at least 146, if not 155 inch track. i wouldn't never ride a 4 stroke, 2 strokes have a lot better response and are a lot lighter. you just get used to expecting sled problems, they take a lot of maintenance

Im going to a auction this weekend with 300+ different sleds. Looks like they have all manufacturers. Any range for mileage. found a renegade with 2,300 miles.
 
huh?!? dude my family does close to 2000 miles in one season if we go to canada

as for the 2 stroke vs 4 stroke debate, doesnt really matter unless your racing. they both do the same thing, i love my dads new 4 stroke, pulls smooth and hard as a son-beotch, plus its not as anoyying as the 2-SMOKES. but maitenence on the 2 strokes is cake, but we havent had any problems with the 4-stroke so far.

BOTTOM LINE::

get a newer chassis, as long as you get the "Rev" (skidoo) chassis or any of the other companies versions that came out after that your back will thank you
