Snowgel Review

The thing that wrecks your stuff is those them there darn metal thingies that you land on...

It leaves a film, but it is a hell of a lot cleaner than the surrounding dirt! hahahaha

the grooves are running perpindiculat to the slope, the fibers of the looped carpet pile are running parallel -- click on the closeup the carpet for high resolution.

For the set up that is in the picture, our cost is about $1.50 per application. I think it is cheap!

we are removing about 2 foot of the in-run hieght since it is toooo fast. KT is it slower, faster or the same as when we used rink ice at the 1260 prak?

I don't believe this particular product is distributed yet. Here again, our cost per application is $1.50

I just got mine and made a batch ANDDDDDDDDDD....wait for it...IT DOESN'T WORK! I have a 6 foot high drop in and my rail is 1.5 feet tall and it is too slow....omg i went faster with just wet turf....someone help me....I have a rail jam next weekend and it isn't going to happen if i can't get speed, even with gel, to get on the damn rail!

you obviously made a mistake making it.. how I don't know cause it sounds simple. what are you using to put it on?

Um I mixed water with gel ahhaha. And I used a shovel handel to mix it, just like papasteez. I used a cup to spreed it out.....just like papasteez....idk I kinda rigged my setup and I can slide the rail....but very slow.

It essentially dries to a film. If you have a lot of it and cover it and then wet it back down later, yes, it can be "reused". The more evaporation the gel is exposed to, the shorter it's life.

We have a local rail jam every 2 weeks in our area using snowgel. there are a couple of people, like freezed who have not had positive results, but there are 100's that have. Not sure what is different about thier set up, but I can assure you, that we had to scrape a lot of the gel off our set up to slow it down.

You can see how little gel was used in the top and middle pictures, click on them.

i totally believe that you guys have had positive results. must be something different about the setup? when we used it though, it was slower than just having wet/soaped carpet/astroturf/whatever.

I think it might have to do with the carpet, because undoubtedly this stuff is slippery in your hand. The sculpted carpet with the grooves is probably key. flatter carpets like astroturf might be squishing the gel out. So maybe, the more course the carpet the better the results?

I'm a bit hesitant on ordering this stuff now. I really want to hit some rails... but i'm no Mr. Moneybags either... and if it doesn't work...

Good review.

The difference is likely the carpets.

The carpeting papasteeze is using looks to be quite firm, whereas astro has more bounce where the snowgel can sit away from contact with your skis.

I guess the best way is to buy one pot and try it out?

I wish I could but shipping to the UK makes it pointless =/
