snowflex park in CO

i am interning with an excavating company this summer and fall and after i have a good knowledge of large excavation i am very seriously considering building a snowflex park in colorado--most likely near denver. I am very serious about this venture and if i could find enough sponsors and kids/adults who would support skiing in the summertime then i would try my hardest to go through with it. i know lots of contractors and me and my friends have enough knowledge of parks and know enough people to make a dope ass park that any skill level skier/boarder could represent on. If you are a colorado skier and i haven't msg'd you--post-- or if you are anyone who would like to see a summer snowflex park in your area or even someone from england who rides on one please post a response as i am trying to get as much feedback as possible. I know this would be fun i just need to know that i wouldn't go bankrupt if i put all my life's worth into it. please respond and let me know what you think

i've got a possee of around 8 guys who would definetly check the park out weekly...i know of so many boarders and skiers that would head to it...no matter where it was built in denver.

message me if you want help

I live and ride in England and the money for the snowflex park here was put up by sprite, its not cheap, about $750,000US. you need a big corperate sponson to get this kind of money. Good luck with it anyway. Maybe you should get in touch with sprite in the US.

Uh, hell yeah Id ski there. Im sure, that there would be a demand, how many people go up to the mountains every weedend, somewhere around 150,000? If you had a tiny percentage of that coming to the park than it could work out.

i already know 750 grand is a lowball thats why i want as many responses as possible because i want to be able to pay those sponsors off without falling into 800 years of debt. thanks for the replies and keep them coming

good luck with that shiat dude

vail crew is down. Call ski companies, and make retail space. U need room for equipment shops/rental shops, u need to have a variety of foods in a restaraunt type establishment, and you need to bring in a corporate sponsor. Not a ski company, sombody like Pepsi (pepsi center) or a beer (Bush Gardens) or perhaps Coors (coors field). These are all major coprorations that you need to contact regarding this.

First you must get Land. Next, you need bids for construction. You need numbers, total numbers! Your proposal to companies needs to include total construction and operating costs for the first 5 years. You need a financial guru!

You will make a promise to your corporate sponsors. Your promise is a certain amount of money each year to start paying back ur debts.

This number will be reached pending the agreement you make with your sponsors prior to any construction.

dont take only my advice, get a lawyer to help ur ass out. They will know the entire procedure to actually complete this project.

then call me and i'll come help out from a skiing side.

try talking to sprite... if it was profitable for them in England they may consider it in Colorado.. also they'll already know what goes good, and what things may come up.

go for it, I know so many people that would drive up from fort collins to go, so a lot would go from denver, the springs, longmont not to mention the mountain towns.

p.s. thanks spinks for your input but i am a construction management major i am fully aware of all of these procedures--i just need to know that there are enough people so that i don't go bankrupt and the whole thing doesn't fall into the ground. not meaning to be a dick though for sure and your input is still appreciated

another idea i just had would be to keep it open year round and just have it as an after-work thing in the winter or for people who don't get enough park riding in during the day. personally i get enough park riding in during the day but it would be fat to ride after a powder day if my legs weren't j-e-l-l-o cuz powder is my best friend

well, before you get too gung ho, there is an indoor park opening in vegas within the next year. You would have to look at competetion with them. there facility is almost complete. Dont mean to rain on your parade. It sounds like a good idea.

Get ready to go big on the new slopestyle course and olympic-size Superpipe next year in...Las Vegas. Vegas? Scheduled to open in late 2003 in the Nevada desert, SnowLab, will be the country's first indoor snow-riding facility. Coming in at 1,100 feet long, with more than 200,000 square feet of snow-covered terrain, it will also rank as one of the largest such centers in the world.

'We anticipate it will be used by the pros as a year-round training facility,' says Christiana Wolf, spokesperson for SnowLab. 'It's designed with freestyle boarders and skiers in mind,' she says.

In addition to a ski school and an 'extreme' tubing course, SnowLab's interchangeable slopestyle course will feature rails, tables, and big-air jumps, as well as an extensive video system that will replay your moves on big screens throughout the building.

Snow Creation International (SCI), developer of SnowLab, is working to avoid mistakes like those that torpedoed Disney's Gotcha Glacier snow dome project near Anaheim, California, which was called off last year. SCI has lowered costs dramatically by developing its own snowmaking system and signing an exclusive agreement with Snow Park Technology, a worldwide leader in terrain park design.

'It'll be great for all the athletes who can't afford to travel,' says pro rider Jamie Burge. 'Plus, it'll still be there after Mount Hood blows.'

that is sweet AND it would give me (yet another) excuse to go to vegas. however my idea revolves more around skiers who know a little bit about what they're doing rather than in vegas where tourists would represent 100% of the consumer base, plus i would do it outside. i'm pretty sure i wouldn't lose customers to vegas though. i don't know anyone who would go to vegas just for an indoor ski slope (unless their priorities are WAY out of line), just like i don't think people would come to denver just to hit an outdoor ski slope in the summer. muchas gracias for the info though and keep posting

first of all, thank you. i frequent vans skate park here in broomfield, and i envy all of those little skaters who are fortunate enough to be able to practice the sport they love year round.

second of all, i don't think there's any way you're going to be able to keep snow in a park in denver OUTSIDE. it gets way too fucking hot down here, and it rains. if you have some great plan to have it outside, i'm all for it.

third, you will have to market to the snowboarding industry as well to stay in business. there are many skiers here in colorado who would gladly pay to ski in the summer, but not enough.

lastly, (i know everyone's been saying this) sponsors, sponsors, sponsors. not only in the industry but outside of it. they're vital.

good luck, and keep in touch.

snowFLEX park--not real snow but a synthetic uniform material that many parks in the UK are made of--just to clear it up for anyone

Theres more pros in CO than Vegas, I mean fuck who skis in Vegas, they have a nice little mountain around there but its not very popular. Anyhow Id be fuckin psyched for that stuff, Im sure youd have a good customer pool.

I too go to CSU, I actually have a freind in Const Mgt.

dont think that vegas wont take any business away from you - the place in vegas will have real snow and a real park. you know who snowpark technologies is? think superpark, x-games, us open, triple crown and a bunch of international comps. They are already under construction and have a little bit more experience. Good luck though

yah even if the snowflex park doesn't work out, even a training facility with water ramps, tramps, and foam pits would be the shit.

people--OUTSIDE!!!!!!! i am not building an indoor ski park and i am not looking to attract shitloads tourists OR pros--my market is the 2 million+ peeps who live in or near the denver area and don't think that 6 months is a long enough ski season. sure a pro comp would be great and all but vegas can have it thats fine with me. no one would drive to vegas just to ski if they had a snowflex park within 45 min of their house, and not many are going to come to denver in the summer just for a ski trip--at least this is how i see it

put one in montreal for the east coasters there are tons of freeskiers and riders here u could use the big o ( olympic stadium) and its within driving distance of half a dozen states and near a ton of east coast ski areas

hmmmmm......sounds profitable but i could never be an east coast skier i've lived in CO my whole life and am absolutely spoiled by the snow here
