Snowboarding is easy

My friend skis and snowboards and he says it is definitly easier to do rails on snowboards and spins.

i can do both, im more of a rider on a snowboard, jumps and spins are hard

Let us have a revolution

i think that certain parts of snowboarding are easier... rails and spins. but i think landing jumps and cliffs is harder on a snowboard. overall riding is probably the same. whatever... EVERYONE STICK TO SKIING

Snowboarding is harder to learn, but easier to get good at.

snowboarding is alot easier once you get your ballance but the first day on it, it feals harder cause your on your ass all day

holy shit u guys. this is a retarded thread. they r different sports, get that rail out of ur ass. i would like to see a skier do a double cork ten over chads gap. i bet it could happen in the future tho.

nobody knows what they are talking about. it is actually quite hard to spin on a snowboard, because wehter you spin off of your toes or heels, you have to be set on a strong edge, and really pop off the jump perfectly. as far as landing goes, you have to land on and edge, and stay there, and you dont have as much leeway to land as on skees. we can not land 'backseat' at all, or else we will wash out and it will be worthless. another thing is that it is much easier to catch edges on rails on a snowboard. and another thing....riding really really fast is 10x harder because you can not be flat based ever, you must stay on either heel or toe edge, and when the snow is a bit choppy it makes it very tricky. im by no means sayhing that skeeing is easy, but snowboarding is totally different, and you cant really compare the two.

Powder is really gratifying on a snowboard. But after a while my calves start to hurt from heelside turns, or maybe its my boot and binding combo =(

^^^boot and binding. ive got the shaun white boots and cartel bindings, and they are built to go together, and i rarely get that problem, but it happens to all of us a little bit.

man i snowboarded for the first time a couple weeks ago... it was awful, i knocked the wind out of myself 3 times in the first 30 minutes. but then the next day i did it again and started to get the hang of it, making turns and heel or toe edge or whatever the hell it was, fun stuff

^^ i can agree with alot of things you say except the edge catching and backseat landings. first off, its impossible for them to catch doing a 50-50 and its assorted variations. as for boardslides, its much easier to hook an edge on one of two small planks than just a single flat one. although ive never snowboarded, all of my friends do and they back me up on that.

secondly, their range of acceptable landings extends as far as ours, if your backseat with your ass riding the ground in skiing or snowboarding your pretty fucked, in the park your gone, in powder your probably going to bombhole or just not come out of it. up until that point we can both hold low to the ground positions. ever seen andrew renolds land stairsets on his skateboard? hes so far out on his ass he can almost touch. if skaters can extend that far with just griptape holding them on, snowboarders can do much better.

yes they can still fall straight back, but it doesnt happen that often, and they can still hold positions like that. besdides, if you examined a big mountain skiers thoughts before he lands backseat off a big cliff, hes probably not doing it because hes slightly off axis and cant right himself. subconcious or not, his mind has evaluated has either evaluated it and partially chickened out, finding a ass down landing better to absorb the compression and survive, or just the sheer force drove his ass down. boarders compress sideways with their asses down for the exact same reason.

snowboarding and skiing both have their share of challenges independent of the other, and their very difficult to compare because their so different. its fine just to leave it at that, except in the case of the 50-50, which, contrary to my snowboarding friends beliefs, gets no where near to competing with a normal ski slide in terms of steeze.

its true. snowboarding is pretty easy once you get onto it and then you hit a plateau where you either get REALLY good, or you just stay mediocre. Snowboards are so much easier on rails too. I love skiing too much though.

i was a snowboarder for many years then i took up skiing 4 years ago...it's definitely easier to spin on skis but other than that snowboarding's easier.
