Snowboarding is better than skiing

i am starting to believe that snowboarding is going better places than skiing because of pros that are ruining the sport. any takers?

 
i like the rail game of snowboarding more because the tricks you can do are more obvious and way cooler to look at for the most part. skiing actually has way more potential on rails, you just have to be more creative like the TC

air game is equal imo
 
honestly as a snowboarder i think skiing has progressed much more in the park aspect of thinks (except torsteins tripple) but i think as far as back country and exploration i think skiers will surpass snowboards
 
How the fuck is Colby ruining our sport? if anything, he's bringing a little humor into something that is sometimes, far too serious.
 
watch the video when the dude says, kastle is going into freestyle blah blah cobly Olympics hahah such a fucking joke its gonna be happening so much in the next few yrs, dont fall for some bullshit. kastle only ventured into freestyle for the money and colby only ventured into kastle for the same reason. im not saying people dont need to get paid. But shit if you cant see that shit is dumb as hell then... i guess your dumb as hell

 
Chill out. All I said was that Colby wasn't ruining our sport. Companies that are just making their first park skis need athletes that are going to get them a lot of exposure. It's how our industry functions. Kids buy gear that pros use.
 
SKIING IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT. NOBODY ELSE CAN TELL YOU WHAT TO DO SO SHUT THE FUCK UP AND HAVE FUN. IF YOU THINK YOU WILL HAVE MORE FUN SNOWBOARDING THEN SKIING SWITCH TO SNOWBOARDING.

ALSO WHO GIVES A FUCK WHAT IS COOL OR UNCOOL MOST PEOPLE SKI TO HAVE FUN. YOU ON THE OTHER HAND CARE TO FUCKING MUCH WHAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE DOING TO HAVE FUN ON YOUR OWN
 
Snowboarding is deadly because its more mainstream then we are, Their gear is also a little lower tech. You add the two up and because more people buy shit, prices are cheaper. Some gnarly setups for no buck in their sport.
 
Build a snowboard "resort" and see how that shit works out for you. Without skiers and ski resorts snowboarding would cease to exist. If you want to snowboard that's fine, but don't come around here with your superior attitude. Skiing will always be better than snowboarding or any other sport.
 
i snowboarded for 15 years. i worked for the major snowboard company for 4 years. i stopped snowboarding 5 years ago and have since been skiing.

skiing has a lot more options. it's also a lot more difficult to get good at it. go out for 7 days in a row snowboarding. you will automatically get better. granted, pros like TR are pushing themselves and the sport like crazy. but joe schmoe who snowboards doesn't have to work hard to get better. it will happen naturally.

skiing is different. skiers can go out every day for 20 years and not get better (i've seen it happen - my mom, dad and sister are examples) or people who have not gotten any better. you have to push yourself.

also, pro skiers go way bigger than pro snowboarders. way bigger
 
we're talking a different class. not a different test. one trick, one shot, one scene doesn't make a sport or an athlete. yes TR pushes snowboarding. it would be silly to even think otherwise. but there are heaps of skiers that are progressing the sport in completely different categories.

and if you seriously think snowboarding is better than skiing, you're the one living in the past. it's not 2004 anymore, bro.
 
I don't think travis could get down some of the stuff those guys can. ya, those guys can't switch right dub chads, but every one has their specialty.
 
thats because our sport has so much less money in it in general, and snowboarding as of now is more marketable, say you walk into a gas station, you buy a pack of SHAWN WHITE GUM you ask the check out person do you know who this is?" yeah tahts shawn white the snowboarder" then say you make one with wallisch or dumont or someone who still has a big name, they wouldnt know who the fuck that is

my point is they have the more " banger budget" because snowboarding is what john everyman wants to see not skiing
 
but they are in both snowsports and who cares if they dont have ball as long as they are having fun they will always be cooler than you.
 


Snowboarding is better for backcountry jumps, they go bigger and it's easier to stomp, mostly when it's deep pow. Skiing is better for big lines and cliffs. For jibs, snowboarding is better but skiing will be better in the future, could take time... There are just more rail tricks on skis than on a snowboard, they are just harder to do. When it came to jumps, snowboarding can't touch skiing in any way.
 
snowboarding is definitely growing at an incredible rate. shaun white and travis rice are some of the most recognizable names in the world right now. i bet if you asked a group of people that are not involved in skiing/boarding to name some athletes, 80% could name a snowboarder or two, 10% could name a pro skier (probably bode miller or jonny mosely or some other olympic racer), and 10% would be clueless.
 
I believe skiing is way more aesthetic than snowboarding since the grads and the trick look far better on skis. Railwise i think both are nice even though i prefer skiing (obviously im a skier).
 
This absolutely trumps anything piece of shit i have ever seen on ns. Trumps it. Only ns'ers would join a website with the soul purpose of getting people stoked about skiing, and procede to shit on everything that has ever been posted, and create a thread saying that skiing is not as good as snowboarding. For god sakes, people are never happy with anything anymore. It's not enough that you trash the movies, edits, products, and athletes all day, now your saying the sport itself is going downhill? That snowboarding is surpassing skiing? If that's the case, then you are part of the problem.
