Snowboarding dominates our scene RANT

I prefer rideng skis to snowboarding and always will, but the snowboarding scene is so far beyond ours.

-The movies are better, check out Picture This, Apples & Oranges, Optimistic, Folllow Me Around if you haven't yet

-The riders are more well rounded. We have a handful of skiers who can shred the bc with style, there are more boarders who hit the competition, urban, park, and bc scene and kill them all with smooth style.

-When I ride with boarders, there are technine and holden kids riding together, they don't give a shit what the other one looks like, I've heard skiers rip on each other at Park City and Brighton all the time for what other kids are wearing

-There are several different outerwear/riding styles and they don't hate on each other near as much as skiers. In fact they can all be on display in one movie. If I see one more tight pants or G-steeze hate thread I'm gonna ban ns for awhile

-The magazines are sick, and they have at least 4 legit ones to chose from

-There is so much hate on this site it's rediculous, skiing is FUN, something this fun shouldn't make us act like a bunch of sniveling bitches as soon as you sit at a computer.

I know our scene is younger and we don't have the $$$ pumpming into the industry like snowboarding does, but I don't care, it's time to grow up a little faster.

not to mention skiers play the shit outa any trend they come across (gorilla style, cab 10s, truckdrivers, neon colours,)

and now everyones hung up on tight pants, way to take something thats not a big deal and turn it into a religion

This topic has been done to death. There are definitely some EXCELLENT skiing films out there.

So what? It's better that there are few excellent athletes - than many decent, but not excellent ones - there are plenty of skiers that shred all aspects of the sport too..

Where are you getting this information from? Your friends?, I question it's validity. We have several different riding styles. Tight pants, no poles, baggy etc..Sure there are kids on this website that hate on others clothing style, but once again i question how representative that is of the population and the participants of our sport, and how far it can be generalised..

As annoying as they are, I'd say these hate threads are made by less than 1% of the NS member base. Majority of people, including NS members don't give a shit. Read one of the threads and watch how many people hate on the thread creator for hating on shit, rather than agreeing with the topic.

Powder and Freeskier are all I need to keep up to date with whats going on in the industry, and to keep me entertained. There are many more skiing mags than those two though.

Making threads like this triggers hate!, It's also good to remember that a strong majority of this site are immature kids under the age of 18 that have nothing better to do than talk shit - plus, hate is what makes NS what it is

 
the only way that either scene is going to be mature is when there is no longer a scene. when people stop generalizing by clothing styles, companies stop catering to a specific group, and no one ever talks about pants again.

oh, and people really need to stop talking about fun. if you were really enjoying yourselves, you wouldnt have to talk about it so much.

as much as i hate to beat a dead horse...go skateboarding. its fun, and no one has to tell you that its fun for you to enjoy it, something that snowboarding and, even more so, skiing, have yet to figure out.
 
I'm just ranting on a rant because this skiing v. snowboarding topic has been done so many times..It just doesn't need to be discussed again.

I think it's hilarious how people 'hear' something, read 20 threads on a topic, see a few movies and think that it applies to the whole industry so they make a skiing v. snowboarding summarising topic.

Most of the negative commentary posted on this website can't be generalised and applied to the entire freeskiing community.

If it could, there would be a LOT more negative publicity about our sport.
 
I agree that boarders have more/better mags. If Freeskier or SBC was as thick as an issue of Snowboarder or Transworld I think I'd die of happiness
 
it's safe to say theres just as much hate in snowboarding as in skiing. Both have Douchebags, assholes, gapers, and annoying park haters.

you can't generalize anything like that. About 3/4ths of the people i ride with are skiiers, and none of us hate on eachother, we just dick around.

if you run into park with a big ego of course somebody's going to mess with you, its just what people do.

you should stop bitching like a child and enjoy the sport. If riders care so much about appearences then they're definetly not real riders, just posers.

so chill out, quit crying about the haters, because they're everywhere in every sport, and ride your motherfucking heart out!
