Well.. let me just clarify this... before there were snowboarders... there were the fagaholic skiers, and the nonfagaholic skiers. many fagaholic skiers then ditched the 2plank world because they thought skiing had become old school and they switched to 1planks and joined in with the snowboarders that are actually cool, cuz they are fagaholics. These fagaholics then became simply known as 'gapers' for thier bandwagon riding and thier thinking they are hot shit. They gave snowboarding a bad reputation and developed a hate between the 2 ways to go down the mountain. Skiers hated boarders, Boarders hated skiers, there were bashings and nobody shared the slopes. there was segregation on the mountains and it made it not so fun. Terrain parks were the only places snowboarders could venture, and being that that was the only place they could really go, they would be pissed when skiers ever went there because it was an unfair practice.
Eventually in the mid 90's they desegregated the mountains, but still lingered the hate.
Skiing then decided to do something nobody ever thought it would do: Reinvent itself.
Born was the freeskiing movement, the second generation twintip (after the old olin mark IV's) and more hardcore big mountain skiers like Michah Black, Seth Morrison, and Brad Holmes.
This was electified and really brought to life in February 1998, when Johnny Mosely landed a 360 Mute grab at the Nagano Olympics, and brought a gold medal home to the USA.
Since then, the movement has grown and added many new skiers, along which bringing about those fagaholics from snowboarding, who were now interested in skiing again and joined up. creating more gapers. This evened the playing field between the really cool boarders, and the really cool skiers. there was some peace made and the war had begun to end.
Now, more than ever, do skiers and Boarders get along. There is still the hate thing going on, but mostly only between the gapers of each sport.
And they will all eventually live happily ever after.
