Hey, I'm just curious...do you guys think the general public thinks that boarding is 'cooler' than skiing? It's just that I get that impression sometimes and It's like 'no way! We're equally cool' lol. What do you guys reckon? :)

yeah, generally if youre a young guy and you tell someone you ski rather than snowboard, they look at you funny. its true, snowboarding is still percieved as cooler by the general public.

I think its kinda lame, but skiing is getting more respect. even today at the end of the day lanks was skiing switch threw the tremblant village when a dad remarked to his son, not older than 6 'Look, that man is skiing backwards, Isnt that cool!'

I think we shouldnt hate someone cause they snowboard, only if they are an asshole. I hate freeskiers too if they're assholes then their assholes what you got on ur feet has nothin to do with it. just the type of person who chooses snowboarding over freeskiing is generally more likely to be douchetoolposerfag who jumps on the popular bandwagon. were gonna start seeing it switch that more people switch to freeskiing cause its cool.

well most snowboarders are cooler than most skiiers (or look cooler at least) most snowboarders wear baggy cloths just like freeskiers, skiers wear tighter ski pants, or one peice suits and zigzag down groomers at like 7 mph.

alot of us forget that we are not what people think of when they think of skiing. if I tell someone I ski they look at me funny. so I take out my laptop show them a couple of ski clips and their usually converted and think that skiing is cool

I've only ever done it for like half an hour on my sisters board...There's this thing I've heard that says: skiing is easier to pick up but harder to progress in and boarding is easier to pick up but harder to progress in...in my opinion boarding seemed really hard after skiing my whole life lol...

 
snowboarding is sooo easy. I tried it on my first day I could slide most rails. you dont have to worry about skis bein to far apart too close together your weight bein forward gettin all the way 90. if a skier slides a rail haf way to 90 he'll either fall or look like a fag. when a boarder does it they call it a smith or blunt and say its a really nice trick. what ever once skiers can more diff kinds of nose press tail press we'll truely rule them.

i think skiers are better at finishing burlier, multi kink rails, but snowboarders do more technical stuff on simpler rails, for obvious reasons.

I started snowboarding at like age 8 (I'm now 15) when not many girls ages 8-15 snowboarded. But now like frikkin everyone does, and it is a 'trend'. They put like 'i like snowboarding' in their profiles when they have gone like 3 times, thinking they are cool. So yes I think that the public thinks snowboarding is 'cooler', and that's pretty gay.

 
^you say 'like' a lot...snowboarding is a harder to learn then skiing. all the people that have been once or twice and say they can do almost all the rails (which were probably ride ones) are faggot how haven't experienced anything else. WHat pisses me off is hearing skiers say that snowboarders throw down harder shit than skiers. Snowboarding is way easier in every way possible. For example, people say skiing is easier to learn than snowboardng. THis is a load of bullshit since it's easy to learn how to snowplow like a gay fag on skis but it's way harder to learn how to carve properly on skis.

My brother skied for 4-5 years, and could never carve properly. Than he picked up snowboarding and learned how to carve properly in 3 days of ridin.

Snowboarding is way easier than skiing. I will admit that snowboarders have more style, because snowboarding is easier and thus makes it easier to put style into their dull tricks.

Plus you can't count old ladies in tight pants carving down the hill as skiers. They are skiers but they don't represent the sport. You have to compare snowboarding to freeskiing, the things that are repping the sport in a good way.

THe public thinks snowboarding is cooler but skiing is gaining respect quickly. Snowboarding is a gay fad and it will eventually die out unless they can start doing more shit. No snowboarder has ever done cork 810 to rail... SKIERS ARE WAY AHEAD OF SNOWBOARDERS IN EVERY WAY. Skiers are already doing more difficult rails than snowboarders (if you want proof go to photos and see the pic of the kid sliding the 6 kink).

Hey I snowboard and i think freeskiing is pretty cool. I love seeing skiers throw 270's on and off shit. But I really do hate all the snowboarding posers who just sit down and wait for everyone to go ahead of them before hitting some fucking rails. I think instead of comparing the sports we should just see them as two different ways to enjoy yourself while on the mountain. No matter what your strapped into, as long as your having a blast thats all that really matters.
