Snowboard Films way ahead of Ski Films

you should go see the 11th hour by off trail productions... its one of my fav ski videos because its made just like lame and afterlame

hooohaaaa lets all complain about how things are so shitty in the industry that we all know sooooo much about and then go out and do exactly waht we see is wrong! YESSSSS..then again even calling people out like that could be considered a cliche move. never, ever make rules and generalizations for shit mang, there will always be something to go against it. its gay as fuck to keep on comparing snowboard movies to ski movies, you want to compare movies? how about you go and check out who framed rodger rabbit? and then compare it to how you liked long story short. both are waayyy fucking cool. but cool in waaaayyy different ways. i dont know about you, but i wouldnt be expecting crazy green goo and rainbows and talking cars in a ski movie....leave that shit for who framed rodger rabbit, vice versa with bigass barrel transfers and trips to austria to go jump over a little backyard road being left for long story short. a movie is a movie. it was made by someone different than whoever made another movie. no way can you compare show and prove to something like beyond the bunny hill. both have skis in them sure, both more than likely had different everything else influencing them. same goes with how you cant do community project and something like city park city or roshambo. they are all different movies. its not like EVERYONE making snowboard movies collectively pool together and talk about how they can once again outsmart skiers...or maybe i dont think so at least...just take each movie on its own, is that one particular movie sweet or no?...i like the free willy movies and i like movie like commando and desperado...both are movies, tahts pretty much it they have in common...and now way can i go around saying that nature happy happy movies are "waaayyyy ahead" of straight up badass blow everything up kind of movies. that being said, i need to go grab another drink downstairs.

snowboard movies are made by teams... like forum videos, im sure forum gives alot of money for the video. you never see a armada team video out there. with skiing its always independant movie companies getting random sponsors.

The fact that snoboard movies are better (which they often times are), has to do with one thing...

Money

Companies have a much easier time pouring money into a snowboard film because the target audience is huge. Snowboarding is such a centered sport around mostly freeriding that the amount of the people who show interest in park riding is insane.

Skiing on the other hand is much more splintered. There are indeed plenty of people who show interest in "freestyle" skiing, but there is park/pipe, moguls, aerials, big mountain, skier cross, etc.... there is too much diversity for any one company within the industry to commit such a large chunk of money to a ski film.

Many people argue that snowboarders are more excited and focused on creating videos than skiers; this is wrong. The films that I recognize as the very best of the best (Lame, Follow Me Around, etc...) are shot so well because the crews have the necessary equipment it takes to create the shots they desire. That is simply a money thing. It has nothing to do with skiers not working as hard... it's just that it takes money to make an idea come to life.
