Snowbird

dunno, im flying in on christmas also. i guess we'll both find out huh?

you skiing the whole week at the bird?

If it has not snowed in the past five days, it is skied out, and really hard. I has a pass there and went by this.

um no... you drive 5 more minutes up the hill to Alta, and ski a much better resort with better terrain. Or maybe I just think so because I skied Snowbird for 5 straight seasons so I could be tired of it, and finally moved up to Alta. Also at Alta you don't have to deal with the Snowbird race team which is a nice relief .

youre the reason alta is regarded as a bunch of stuck up assholes. id rather be able to shred with my snowboarding bretherened.

better terrain??? who are you kidding man? they're practically the same resort. sure people have their preferences, (mine is snowbird because i believe there are in fact more cliffs) but you're just being ignorant. both resorts have sick terrain.

Yeah I know that was a pretty ignorant statement. I don't know why I said that. I really just got tired of the attitude at Snowbird, and not the terrain. There is a lot of sick stuff to do there. I mean they both have some of the best terrain in the world. I do prefer Alta more though.

Hey there is just as much attitude at Alta as there is at the bird... I just prefer not being associated with a terrorist organization like the alta-queda....

which is why after 3 seasons in LCC I said fuck it and got a brighton pass for my powder needs. Im tired of d-bag 40 yr olds in full arc'teryx set ups being dicks because my clothes are a little bit baggy and Im tired of having to wake up at 6 am if I want to get a pow turn in because its all tracked by 10.

Yay BCC.

well since this thread was meant for help about how snowbird has been recently lets get back on topic...

who has been skiing there? how has it been? and i know they have a very little park now days but how is it? (please dont lecture me about how i should go to pc for park, i like snowbird better overall)

i've heard they're not even planning on putting in a park this year, not even rails... dont know if its true, but its a rumor thats going around... i was there on the 16th and they didn't have anything.

fuck yea man, i remember back in the 04-05 season, and maybe 05-06 too they had a dope park, pretty sick jumps, a channel gap, the rainbow and trap boxes were set up super nice... nice rails and all that, but then the word that i heard was that the guy they had building parks went to northstar because he just got fed up with the management... shame shame shame, cuz northstar has a dope park set-up.

well i am gunna be skiing at the bird/ alta too the 16th-the 21st if anyone is riding solo and wants to ski. i am skiing with my dad and uncle and his friends..

For the record my + 40 yo dirtbag skibum ass brought a flylow coat this season to go with my arctreyx bibs

Looks great on me don't it

Digdibb.jpg

"If ya only knew" you'd have picked the other bcc resort as my powder needs don't involve wallowing in the B right ON flats

hahah i got the nastiest look from some arcteryx dbag at the bird the other day in my oakley alps/stoic xl gear which i'm gonna make the claim performs just as well as any arcteryx while looking infinitely steezier. not hating on arcteryx, they make quality shit, just the self righteous assholes who see baggy clothes and automatically think i'm some flatland fuck because i like some bag.

I like some bag too......

Of mother FKNA Killer Green BUD

Havent made it over to the Bird yet this season.

Dick put a Starbucks in his bASShole yet?

i gotta agree with this. i don't live in SLC but I really like brighton. there is NOBODY there which is just amazing. Having just gone to SLC, we went to Brighton 3x and snowbird, alta and solitude only once each. We got stuck in in traffic forever coming down LCC but never saw any kind of traffic in big cottonwood. while the terrain is not as gnarly, brighton still has a bunch of fun terrain inbounds and out of bounds and it remains untracked for WAY longer. We had untracked for a week after the storm just out of bounds of the resort.

At alta, after dropping in on the backside of some face some tree grabbed my ski and ripped it off. Some guy saw it and said yea it slid down into those trees down there. When I asked if he could point it out he just said "its down there" and then went off on his merry way. What a fucking dick. I spent at least an hour in waist deep snow looking for it before deciding I'd have to go to town and find a metal detector to find it cause it was hopeless. So I skied down the mountain with one ski got in the car and drove down the canyon. Luckily my brother was able to find it up in a tree somehow before I actually rented a metal detector. That fucking asshole knew where it was but was just too much of a badass to point it out.

I'll take brighton.

This was the first year i went to bird and was pretty skeptical at first but it has grown on me. There is a lot of fun stuff to do on the less used lifts like Baldy and Gad 2 you just got to know where to look. However i might be enjoying snowbird more because i finally got my PC pass squared away and am getting my park needs tended to by her. On a side note PC was so much fun today!!!

well my trip was a success! i hit a awesome pow day on the last day i was there. they deffenitly needed it. then i herd it snowed like three more feet after i left.. poop. hahah

the 40 year old d-bags only make fun of your if they are tourists, or if you are a shitty skier.
I have a 4xl puffy and 2xl analog pants that I sag to my knees with bibs, gogs under my helmet, and mini poles, and I don't get anything more than a few curious looks - and i am by no means a really good skier.
If you are really self conscious enough to choose a resort because of how people look at you when you are there, have fun elsewhere.
If you aren't willing to wake up early to get good snow, well then again, too bad for you.
I understand people don't like how fast it gets tracked, but I'd rather get up early and ski hard to get long, sustained, good runs than waste half of my life traversing for a couple hundred feet of vert/cliff bands.
