Snowbird Terrain Park 2010

The snowbird terrain park is currently being built. My guess it is will be finished by the end of the week. Talking about the one on Big Emma of course. From what I hear the park will NOT include a super pipe this year but looks like it will have two medium/small kickers and the usual assortment of easy to medium difficulty rails. If any one has more info please post it up here! = D

if snowbird had the want to build and maintain a park the caliber of PC's then it would be top 5 in the country.

I wish the Bird has a park the same caliber as PC's. If I could buy a pass to a place with a phenomenal park as well as the best natural terrain that would be all time.

PC's park is sick, but the rest of the mountain isn't nearly as wild as Snowbird.

they better get their park up, the place gets tracked out in less than an hour and ices up in a couple days, nothing to do but hike a run then lap the park in the afternoon.

Well the Bird has some alright placement for parks, that would keep the rest of the mountain free from jibbers. The one off big emma only would crowd up Mid Gad and Gadzoom sometimes. The BEST place for the park was the Baby Thunder chair. Kept all the kids on that side of the mountain and gave all levels of difficulty. Damn I wish they would bring that back..

Rich how the hell are you online right now
...yeah, so nice that it keeps snowbird less crowded.......barely anyone there at all, since there's no park and all. like a ghost town.

yeah!
i was thinking the other day they should put a little jib park on mineral, theres that real mellow section under baldy xpress.

Haha, I hardly remember typing that really. I do know I came down to grab a drink from my fridge and hopped online for a minute. god i'm a loser.

Yeah I dunno what's going through Snowbird's managers head but everything they've done in the past two years has only served to make less people go there.

word the thing with alta and snowbirds parks were

Baby Thunder was a good location

now its never used

Alta put there park(which was fun) in the worst place possible

they had to get the cats to pile huge mounds of snow for the jumps because they didnt take advantage of the natural landing other locations had

baldy express could make an awesome park because how long a chill the run is

dude + karma for a awesome idea ,i didn't even think about baldy, it really would be perfect. Too bad it will never happen :-(

They could.. They have great locations, and would have a large amount of skiers hitting the parks. Idk.. Liability is too high?

i think that people need to realize that if they get hurt its their own fault and they are foolish to think that a resort is responsible if they fall because they dont land a trick or anything

its on the back of the ticket, and its why you sign a waiver with your season pass.
snowbird has a large rail graveyard, it sad to see them sit there.
its silly reallty.

They have one its called chips and it kicks ass... and come spring we get this awesome set up called the upper cirque terrian park... that one kicks more ass than anything in the world...

its seems pretty dumb on snowbirds part. They will build a giant tunnel through the mountain to attract skiers but not a terrain park? If snowbird had an amazing park, it would be one of the best all around resorts in the world. If they had a really good park, skiers would feel less inclined to get pc passes, and they could really increase their youth market.. And crowded? so what? most of the new crowd would be in the park and you could always tele in the forest or something if the people were getting to you.

Very true. Because what I hear most is " Yeah love the snow and steeps but I guess next year I will get a PC pass too, gota hit up the park" So If the bird even had a medium caliber park it would keep a lot of the skiers on the mountain longer.

two jumps are molded, and pushed! rainbow rail is just lacking some shaping! just in time for the snow, haha. they pushed the jumps today.

it would be cool to have another terrain park to go to canyons is fun, brighton is fun pc is well pc than a snowbird park would be sweet as well.

I e-mailed them earlier in the year when the Park City homerun park was first built. I told them that the PC jumps were only 20-30 feet but were way more safely built than anything snowbird ever had in their baby thunder park. I let them know that just because a jump is slighly bigger size it doesn't have to be unsafe. I also reminded them that even though I go to snowbird to ski the mountain and not the park, and that even though they are a big mountain resort, all big mountain riders want to hit jumps when all the cliff landings are bombed out.

They told me that they appreciated my feedback and that they would pass it on to upper management.. probably didn't get through..

Park is open, hit it on my way down to the car. Let me just say that you will have much more fun going over to Gad side and launching moguls.

ski with mitch and thoroughly agree. i hope they can do better than that (not that i actually care whether or not they have a park), but it is seriously embarrassing. i am pretty sure the landings are just manmade piles with a lip built on to the front.

Bumping an old thread.

I've heard rumors, from multiple people, including higher ups in Snowbird, that the parks are moving back to Baby Thunder next year. I haven't heard anything about how big the parks are going to be, but it definitely is an exciting step in the right direction.

I was watching Shawshank Redemption and after writing a letter every week for a few years the government finally gave Shawshank Prison the money it needed to build a library..

... just saying.

Does anyone know the story behind that big hip that ski patrol and some other people were building by road to provo?

I think I know which one you're talking about. So my friends and I were lapping Little Cloud and hitting that thing a few weeks ago and then we decided to go over to Gad 2 for a couple runs and when we got back ski patrol was just getting done stomping it out. Fuckin sucked.

that jump is pretty gnarly looking! if you're talking about the big-ass hip jump set-up below road-to-provo.

It's def. not something anyone can just hit. They had it all roped off and such for a legit shoot this evening... I think.

The Levitation Project is behind it from what I heard? Anyone else? It is a crazy jump for sure.
