is snowbird worth the trip from MN in late april? how many runs to they typically have open and stuff?

i know any skiing is good skiing in april, but i wanted some honest opinions if it is worth my money to go there that late?

thanks allot NS

It depends on how much snow we get for the season. If we have good snowpack then it is well worth it. Most runs are still open and the Tram is running. Its warm and the snow is good for doing jib runs on Chips. It basically depends on how much snow we get the rest of the season, but I would say its a good bet.

thanks for the great reply..... if you do have an average to good snow year, how does it compair to summit county CO in the first week of april? i will be there the first week and was thinking about heading out to UT in late april...............

my dad is an airline pilot so i can fly for free!!!!!!!

i dont expect anything really steep to be open that late but it would still be a blast to get to ski..

I did spring break in Moab last year and then spent a day skiing snowbird. Its good, slushy, probably ice in the morning, but the back softens up reeeeeal nice. There was even some powder to hike for when I went. Park was decent too. Go for it!

Sometimes we get a TON of snow in April. Last year we had late season snowstorms super late and April was fun. Snowbird should be great this April if it keeps dumping the way it has. And yes I might be in Europe but my knowledge of home is good too!

Ummm you would be surprised almost the entire mountain is still open if we are having a normal year of snow

I don't really know much about snowbird, but just to let you know, I did Squaw Valley in late April, It felt like the middle of winter, almost everything was open, and the only stuff that wasn't was cause of Avy danger. It was seriously like winter.

And whistler is also pretty legit in late april, but colorado doesn't do to well compared to these other places.

yea i would love to go to whistler but my only option would be snowbird. im 18 so i cant rent a car or check into any resorts. but with snowbird i can take the bus from the airport.

late spring can be dope in the cottonwoods...stuff like main chute at alta ect. that never opens durring ski season are free game after the lifts stop turnning...I think that it would be defnitily worth it...

oops forgot my question.... does anyone know how long the ski bus runs up to snowbird? I will be taking it from the airport if possible...... i searched around the UTA website and could not find much info

the bus stops running in the spring. it'll only run up and down the canyons 1-2 times a day. for getting to wehre your going from the airport i would either take a taxi or some other shuttle thats more reliable.

bump, if i get to go, it looks like it would be in mid may. is it still worth my money?

will they have the tram running? and anything on the back open ?

thanks allot,

Justin.

we have ski'd lift served on the fourth of july. april is money..... but mid-may is cuttin it pretty close broseph.

and rides wont be much of a problem were pretty nice here in utah. especially on the forums......

i once gave some brody kid $30 dollars because he said he needed it. he lived at westminister and i lived in draper soooooooooooo..... im in know way shape or form a hippy but when it comes to fellow skiers i'd give my only pair of shoes if they needed it.

well based on the name, i think you probably know a thing or two about the "Bird" haha......

yeah when i was out there this summer everyone i ran into was super nice.

one more question, i will be in CO the first week of april, what do the snow conditions compare to that? in may at snowbird ..

thanks for the helpful reply

summit county sucks balls.

its funny when they talk about mid-fats and they say the east coast and are like yeah.... also if you live in like summit county and you dont see that much powder.....

i've heard that like 3 times now, always gets a chuckle outta me.

im going in late april as well......i have been going for the past 4 or 5 years and it has been really great every time...its good cuz when i go i hit ALTA's last day and there is a giant BBQ/party in the parking lot... but every time i have been there there has been maybe one time when the snow pack was not too great for April... but now you say you might go may, so im not sure then...it gets pretty warm in April when i go there.

bump, it looks like i will be out there last few days in april, first few days in may..... does anyone know the best place to get discount tickets for snowbird and one alta ticket..

preferably the location of these tickets would be near the mouth of the canyon.

thanks NS

also walgreens and there both pretty much right at the mouth of little cottonwood right across from each other

great, thanks for all the help.... i was out there this summer for a week and i think i know exactly where you are talking about...

does anyone know how much they go for a day? and can i get multi day ones? cause once i head up the canyon i dont know if i will be able to find a ride down until i go back to the airport for my flight..

sorry for all the "noob" questions, but thanks allot NS
