Snow Park Tech is going to make Okemo's park

That's sick, but wasn't their park pretty good as it was? Seems like they don't really need it. I wish snow park tech would show some love to the midwest... we need help.

Their park was sick last year but definitely lacking, so much wasted space and they were still building the park in March (not a rebuild). All these terrain park companies are unnecessary in my opinion if you have the right person running the park and good groomers. Okemo is trying to reclaim their position as one of the top east coast mountains, and they are doing it right. They are doing everything they can to make people drive the extra bit past Mount Snow.

If okemo brings them I think they should send the current okemo groomer back to sunapee. We miss him so much. Ever since he left the sunapee park has been poorly maintained garbage

Is SPT actually building the park, or are they working with the current Okemo crew to help design it/teach them how to build it. Because there's a huge difference.

SPT has done this before, everyone thought they were on hand during the builds of public parks that "build" in the past, but in reality, they just design it and help the current park crew with techniques for building/maintaining. It would be pretty unrealistic for those roughly 20 guys to be on hand for every single park build, even just a few on hand is unlikely.

Basically, parks pay for the support of SPT to design features (sometimes build the physical rails, but sometimes not), give knowledge/training, and the park usually uses their tools (i.e. rakes) while working in the park. It's still awesome, but it's not like they're going to be the ones building, like when they build the x-games course, you're still going to be seeing the same guys digging and the same guys behind the sticks (or yokes...don't know what Okemo prefers) of the cat.

Okemo will never be the top east coast mountain. The layout of their mountain sucks..everyone gets funneled into one main area and it gets insanely crowded. At least mount snow has the space to do it on their entire mountain for a park. For that reason alone, Okemo won't be able to claim it. Focus on what they are good at...a family oriented mountain. Wasn't impressed with their park the past two years, though they definitely had some cool features. Nothing worth while making the extra drive past mount snow.

Also moving the main park from nor'easter to upper/lower tomahawk. Not sure how I feel about this

Snow Park Tech builds some of the most dope parks in the country. Get educated/rekt/bent nerd

Its a waste of money though. If you have a park manager that knows what hes doing and cares it is just as good.

I'm not talking only park. I'm talking about attracting the main ski population. The fact that Okemo tossed out the extra bucks just for heated seats on their six pack is a big middle finger to Mt Bro.

Carinthia is sick, but I'll take a less crowded park any day.

One of the most fun places we a small resort in Mass called Ski Butternut. No need for SPT just rider input and an open minded park staff. Ever try and suggesting something to park crew? They dont ever take it well. Kinda like telling a cook his food needs, "this or that".

Either way it will be a good marketing point for Okemo and chances are I will be making a visit again this year.

Grew up skiing at butternut..great little mountain and the park in recent years has seriously been stepped up. Great rail setups the jumps always suck but the trail is real small so what can you do. Always get a few days in there have a family lake house 5 minutes away.

I skied butternut probably about 5 years ago now, and even "back then" it was awesome. Such a fun park.

Seeing as Okemo currently has/had a position open for Terrain Park Manager, I can see how they are going this route. If I was qualified to what they are looking for, I would love to get that job. Okemo needs what Sugarbush has but everything on a bigger scale. Just hitting / straight sliding some of their features feels like an accomplishment, and with more variety it could be amazing. I have big hope for this season.

hey newschoolers. We have been watching this thread for a bit and appreciate all the comments. We have a new park staff this year and are doing some big things at okemo with spt. If you see us in the park stop and say hey. We are open to comments and suggestions and if you got some tricks you wanna put down we are always looking to get footy for our edits.

Tomahawk is pretty sweet, it has decent flow. I was honestly expecting massive features. I don't really see any way to put bigger jumps in. Will there be anything on par with the size of the nor'easter features?

The Tomahawk park opened last weekend and it's definatly a step up from the nor'easter park in the way it flows and uses all the space on the trail. I ride it almost every run and no one is using it people usually just ride past the lower section and use the early season sapphire park. I often see the park crew skiing around with their rakes. They are definatly not the same group as last year. They also all have snowpark technologies stickers on their helmets so either they're from snow park tech or they got some stickers to use. Anyway it's a great park and if you're at okemo check it out.
