Snow in Colorado

Let’s take a moment to appreciate mother nature with blessing Colorado ski areas today. Loveland and Abasin are getting hammered and they already closed the tunnel. Anyone heard any opening day rumors or know the snow conditions of Loveland pass. Any rails setup there yet?

Went hiking today in Aspen. Got snowed on. Enjoyed it. Still nuking out.... like an inch an hour.

literally came here to post this, the Loveland snow stake is basically burried. First season living in Colorado and Im currently flipping out.

I was going to ask what the chances are for Breck and A basin to have decent skiing the first week of December. Outlook is obviously very strong...

Early storms like this mean nothing for the upcoming season. Most of the snow will melt in the next week. Who knows what the weather will do? It could be good in December or it could still be primarily man made snow with little open.

don't kill my vibe bro. I don't want to admit that you're right

That's true. Here in Minnesota, once it starts snowing, it generally is here for the season. How have the last few early Decembers been?

There will be parks no matter what the snow is like, so it's all good.

Last December was pretty bad, we had a super late start to the season (2 week delay on opening at Keystone/Breck) and didn't get much snow until January. Previous years have been better than that though.

when a basin got more snow in this storm than your resort got all of last season... gotta love ohio man

Fuck I hate Minnesota! We spend 30+ days below zero which means you get -30 to -50 degree wind chills. That make our super slow chair lifts tons of fun, frost bite by the time you reach the top of our 1300 ft mountains. No altitude sickness here.

My porch from my living room in Snowmass right now. Oddly enough, there was double this on my car just on the other side of my house.

Can't wait. There's this steep little hill just a few hundred meters from my place where someone has even set up a downkink at the bottom, would be nice to hike every day possible. And for this fucking darkness to go away, it already gets pitch black around 7 PM.

Well, you're gunna have to wait til spring for that one to get better.

As long as the ground is seared with white, it's an entirely different beast. Deep darkness is depressing, snowy darkness is refreshing (and gives a bit of light). Last year was complete shit snow-wise though, we'll see how this "climate change" is affecting us year by year. Gone are the October miracles of yesteryear.

Ah, I didn't realize that's what you meant.

Last January was epic. The rest of the season sucked. Only time will tell for this and future seasons. Hopefully it's more consistent. Having 80% of your snow fall in one month isn't very sustainable.

Central oregon is supposed to get about 6 inches again later this week. Hopefully it doesn't melt like it did 2 weeks ago

There's been a rail on Loveland Pass for a decade or longer. But ah, I miss Cameron Pass. Love that zone.

There's a few rails set up at Loveland pass, I was there Sunday and Thursday. A hand rail, a couple pvc features, and maybe one or 2 other things.

I'd just like to say, the early storms are a good thing for resorts, but a shitty thing for back country skiers. Early snow (only if it sticks) makes everything wayyyyy less stable
