there was just a thing on the news about a kid that died at snoqualmie today while attempting a 'stunt?' anyone know what happened to the poor kid?

i heard from shawn that he over shot the first table at central by dropping in from the park entry gate...but i dont know...if that is true lets hope to god that their is no legal actions as for some lame ass reason ski resorts tend to loose and you can kiss your terrain park good bye...said the kid was 19...dont know who it is yet...RIP...

yah dude i was there, they were fuckin shovelin bloody snow into a garbage bag cuz there was soo much, he fuckin over shot by so much, I feel hella bad for the family, everyone needs to do what they can to make sure the park stays up. RIP

HEY GO HIT THOSE ROCKS TOGETHER AND TRY AND MAKE FIRE

this is what they get for building jumps in the middle of a giant flat area

Dont get gloves though, gloves are out. just use a cigarette to keep your hands warm.

19 year old skier. Forgot his name. He wasn't wearing a shirt when skiing, the Gomer. I feel real bad, but you just have to know you're limits and use your fucking head also. They said he got about 60 feet in the air when doing a 360 then lossed control and landed forward. Shit.

well a report was now just on the news. first off, the media is fuckin stupid. they were saying the guy went 60 feet up in the air, which is complete bullshit. second of all, they interviewed a snowboarder who said the 'jumps are not meant for skiers' no skiers ever hit it, that type of shit. and third of all, they interviewed an old guy saying the jump was too big, it was a known risk(hence signs and a whole system warning that), they should chop it in half, blah blah blah. i wont get into that. yes, it is terrible somebody died, but thats why there are signs and shit becuase i dont think this person was not skiing responsibly. news was saying he was qualified ski instructor and such, but this was by no means (except for having the feature) the summits fault, or so it seems now. im not sure where i am, but i think the main point is the media sucks and is no where near our ally after the fact that somebody died, which is not good.

hope this doesnt speel doom for the parks indeed, people will begin to bitch, and bitch, and then bitch some more...

i went long, mostly a rant on the news, that is all

why would you ever bomb that thing from the top? just doesn't seem to make any sense to me if you've ever hit the jump.

Grant, if he indeed tucked from where people said he tucked, i would believe that he was 60 feet up in the air, i saw where he landed and it was easily more than 120 feet distance from the takeoff.

Central park doesnt have speed issues like stevens, it has a big long steep part, followed by a flat area, followed by anoter big long steep area, and another flat area.

the problem is they build their jumps right at the begiinnng of the flat areas, so the jumps which are entirly too small in the first place, are super easy too overshoot, and if you overshoot far enough you land completely flat

sucks that he died, but i honestly wish they would tear down all the jumps at central because they ARE dangerous. just make central a big fuckin rale park.

Dont get gloves though, gloves are out. just use a cigarette to keep your hands warm.

also, the really frustrating part, is snoqualmie can make good jumps, ive seen them do it. but because of ski patrol and the safety comittee, they aren't alowwed because they think that the bigger jumps (which are actually safer) are more dangerous

Dont get gloves though, gloves are out. just use a cigarette to keep your hands warm.

i didn't even see grants post, we must have posted at the same time. if the media blows this up like they most likely will, i really scared that i might be skiing at stevens park next year. i really wish that the media would get all the facts before reporting stupid shit like that no skiers have ever hit the jump and its not meant for skiers. that shit just pisses me off.

That sucks. I've tucked as high as that lift pole above the jump, but that's as much as you need to clear the jump and more...from the top of the park...jesus...RIP, man.

people have said he was trying to gap the next table... Has that gap crossed anyones minds? the who died had to had to much testerone or something to even think of doing that (rip)..He went the size of chads gap to pure flat and hard snow.

His name was Peter Melrose. I didn't know him, I just saw it on the news. I'm guessing he was relying on previous hits on other nights because the kick on that jump has been fluctuating throughout the entire season. I've had to speed check from not too far up before, and I've also had to sit on my bindings and straightline it from the bottom of those 2 or 3 little rollers. There's no way he was trying to gap the two, they are way too far apart, and he wouldn't be trying a 360 over that.

That's so messed up though. I broke my jaw about a month ago trying a misty-720 off the first of the lower tables (it was perfect that night), and I've been planning on taking it easy when I start up again, but this death is affecting me almost as much. I hear about skiers dying all the time, and I feel really comfortable with my limits, but for some reason this is making me really examine how big I think I should be going, and what I should be throwing. RIP.

^ hey, did i ride up the lift with you this past weekend at stevens?? i'm that girl with the light greenish helmet, and pink a frames??

whenever anyone does something stupid, the media is all over it saying how dangerous it is. he shoulda watched a couple of guys hit it first to judge speed. theres no way in fucking hell he was 60 ft in the air, cuz if candide was only 40 when he did his cork 5 in superpark 4, then that guy had to be going 80 mph, and woulda been above the lift.

home dude tried to gap the rollers. a 120 foot gap. the first roller to the second. central park. left side. gap the rollers. i question that guys soberiety

sounds like another smart guy. i think the key word in that last post was TRIED. how far did he get?

wait... was this at the top, or the bottom? cause you say left side... so the two tables to the left of the pipe? or the two tiny ones on the left on the top?

--------------------------------

Dont worry, its a controlled slide.

how the fuck could he even attempt a 120 foot gap???? thats bigger than pryamid gap at alta, which is fucking insane, that guy had to be jacked up
