Snoqualmie/Alpental Thread

Whats a Gaper? the defenition? I saw them grooming that kicker at Central on Thursday , getting ready to film !! It was the nicest day all week, wanted to stop and watch but I had stuff to do. Whos choosing the site at Alpy on Sunday? Yo sushi ,, You and your clan going to be up there?

haha yeah, dont go gaper, go mexi!!! i need to buy a Pancho and like a nice sombrero.

Ive got my skis sitting there ready to roll. All I need is to pickup a 12pack of Coronas and will be set for monday. Now me and a buddy just gotta each find a mexican pancho...

I'm still trying to decide if I wanna go today or not. How is the setup up there? I haven't skied in a couple weeks due to Hawaii.

can anybody give me and my friend a ride back to seattle tomorrow? We will smoke you out a fat bowl and get you half off on food.

yeah today was fun, those last two runs over on the triple were the best by far, so much fun, you noobs that skied park all day missed out.

but over all today continued to show that:

Krush is still a cock sucker who hates skiers.

Snoqualmie is still trying to figure out jumps (not bad for may though)

I don't like to ski park.

as well as slush turns are really fun.

and that there should be enough snow to ski through june.

I'm the fool that had a nice pair of JJ's on until I broke the tip off one today trying to Lincoln loop without enough air. Who's goin to Alpy tomorrow?

I know people have been dressing up since here and there but an organized gaper day next sunday mayhaps?~

awesome season this year, i went up yesterday and the park was definitly at its best. usually snoqualmie only has 4-5 kickers but yesterday they had 9, it was nice for a change considering i like jumps

I know I'm bringing this back from the dead (kind of) but I just got an email from Snoqualmie a few minutes ago.

NEW HIGH-SPEED CHAIRLIFT TO BE INSTALLED THIS SUMMER

AT THE SUMMIT; READY IN TIME FOR NEXT SEASON

Snoqualmie Pass, Wash. July 2nd, 2008-

The Summit at Snoqualmie has received the green light from the United

States Forest Service to begin the installation of a new high-speed

quad chairlift, named Silver Fir Express. Located just East of The

Summit's Central Base Area

, the new Silver Fir Express will replace the current Silver Fir

triple chair, originally installed in 1988. Construction is expected to

be completed in November, 2008, meaning the chair will be open to the

public in time for the start of the 2008-2009 winter season.

Work is beginning this week on

disassembly of the current Silver Fir triple chairlift. The project,

costing an estimated $4.5 million, will continue throughout the summer

and fall and involve the use of a helicopter to install the new

chairlift towers. The process will be documented through photos and

video on The Summit's website.

While this new lift will

serve the same terrain as the existing chair, ride times and lift

capacities will be dramatically improved. The length of ride time will

shorten from its current 10-plus minute ride to just over four minutes. Lift capacity will increase to 2400 skiers per hour.

"We are very excited to break

ground on this highly-anticipated improvement project. Silver Fir

serves as a means of access to many of our gladed trails and allows for

easy connectivity between two of our base areas - Summits Central and

East," said Dan Brewster, general manager for The Summit. "This improvement marks the start of an exciting new phase at The Summit."

Several other summer improvement projects are currently underway at The Summit. For a full list, visit: http://www.summitatsnoqualmie.com/info/winter/summer_improvements.asp.
