Snoqualmie/Alpental Thread

wed snow was too fucking deep for my skis. i was struggling. fuckin frustrating for sure. Snoqualmies def struggling with this much snow too. They dont know how to handle it.

Well now that the power is on I'm gonna go check out Central and see how it is. I haven't been at all since the snow, it should be good in the trees!

Damn, Alpental will NOT be open tomorrow (Sunday.)

Read if you care...

IMPORTANT UPDATE: As you are no doubt aware, while the past week's storm has dumped foot upon foot of terrific powder, it has also unfortunately created historic avalanche dangers. These extreme avalanche conditions have created the need to not only do control work on the skiing slopes of Alpental but on many of the surrounding slopes as well in order to ensure the safey of the road and parking lots. This work must be done by helicopter and unfortunately the weather has not yet allowed this to happen. We are very hopeful tomorrow's weather will allow helicopters to fly and allow us to complete this extremely important work. Please know your safety and the safety of our employees is always our number one priority. Therefore... the bad news in this message... Alpental will need to remain closed for at least one more day while this work is complete. Please keep your fingers crossed for clearing skies Sunday and thanks in advance for your understanding. Like you, we want to get Alpental open as soon as safely possible. We look forward to seeing you very soon making powder turns on the slopes!

As of today, they were working on getting the top half back in order. And so far they've jsut done the EXACT same setup. They re-setup the up box, flat rail, down box, and butter box. All in the same fashion. I guess they didn't take the new snow as a chance to change the setup and make some nice 60ft awesome jumps and crap. O well, maybe next time.

The snow today was deffinetly skied out, but we found a few things to night session. Can't wait for alpental.

Damn, that sounds like it was excellent. Wish I had known they had opened it, fighting crowds and tracked out snow was lame today.

Yeah it was pretty nice today, the lower park was completely under maintenance, they are putting in a up down box with a littlle gap in the middle, where the FDF box was.

I got stuck next to a tree today, pretty embarrassing, i just sunk in.

well zero spin if you had a clue, just a little fucking clue how much goddamn snow we got, and how fucked everything is and how fucking much work it takes to make a "60" foot jump you would shut up, o wait, you dont know, maybe if you actually worked park crew or actually knew what it takes to build stuff you would know. just like everyone else that comes to this park you are a fucking retard..

I know it takes effort, but that's the same with all jobs when you want a good product. There are mountains out there that have larger features, and they did have to work a shit load to make them, but that's their job. But I guess it's probably a lot differnt now with all the American sueing and liability. All the good stuff isn't even allowed.

since when have you heard of a mountain getting close to 7feet in 5 days? it takes a lot of time to move shit around with 7 feet of new you fuckin faggot.

Did I say anything about them working slowly? I don't give a shit if they completely close the park for 3 weeks to take their time and work on it, as long as it's quality when it's done.

I dont even care how the park is right now, it would be no fun to maintian speed.......

i am stoked for alpy tommorow though... i have talked the parental units that it would be better for my eduacation if i took a mental health day!

im trying to convince my rents that i need a week off of school to go to park city with my friend to clear my head. not going so well though.... =/

Snoqualmie's park is always sub par, thats just a fact of life. Most of

it due to it's shitty location. Nothing the park crew can do about

that. And the recent snowfall is going to make stuff difficult for

them, again nothing they can do about that. But it is also giving them

a big opportunity to step up the quality of the park in the future.

But

there is no reason why that pipe should not have been cut weeks ago in

early January. They had the snow. The only reason is plain laziness be

it on the park crew or the groomer/cutter, it is still just plain

laziness.

I heard the park crew guys (a week ago) saying they

had just finished digging out the zaugg. It took them till late january

to dig out the zaugg. Thats just week. Overall mid January was pretty

dry, it should have taken them a few days at most to dig it out.

Especially when they should (and could) have just kept it from getting

buried in the first place.

So Luke and John can bring the e-hate since I know they will, but I don't care if your amigos with the park crew, they still should have had that pipe cut a while ago.

6+ feet of snow is just doom for a park no matter where and when. Having the pass closed for several days makes things soooo much harder, too. On other occasions, snoqualmie has a very pervasive need to be lacking (or lazy) and inconsistent. Jumps can be quasi decent one day, but just odd another. Likewise with rails... I mean boxes. And I have always found it amazing that they put all that money into a rather large infrastructure, such as lights, music, ground work, and most importantly, snow making, but the latter in particular is never put to use when it could be (i.e. early season). The pipe could be good. A bit steep and lacking a good drop in, but still pretty sweet on its best days. But it takes forever to open, and is only good on comp day and perhaps a couple days strung about here and there. Otherwise, its usually not cut, and overall pretty horrendous to ride. Worst of all, numerous times last season, the website would routinely say the pipe was open/cut, but in reality, it was nothing but a hacked piece of death and/or closed. Of course, the excuse I got was the zaugg was broken or the website was still being understood or not working. I love how it is never broken for photoshoots and the various board/skate comps. But whatever, thats why I don't buy a pass there, amongst other reasons.

billy and grant i know you guys arent trying to dog on snoqualmie but seriously i dont really care if one thing or another isnt perfect. its such a fun mountain, you dont always have to ride park. if im not feelin the park i just go shred silver fir and hyak, so much fun. if you are creative that mountain has way more to offer.

Contrsuctive criticism?

You're just being a whiny bitch, don't be surprised when people hate on you.

Snoqualmie consistantly has the most features of any park in the state, and the most creativity. If you don't want to ride snoqualmie then don't. Is anyone making you? Then stop fucking complaining. I would rather all the kids who hate just not come at all, less lines for the people who recognize what the fuck is up.

So how is the park sub par other than the pipe not being cut?

Like you said, due to it's shitty location, but other than that it has nothing to do with management, or park crew. They have more features than any other mountian in the state, and almost in the whole northwest.

Sub par? Give me a break.

The set-ups have been pretty decent, but not as good as the hype that people have given that place.

Honestly, if they would build steeper landings on the big jump line, I wouldn't complain at all.

yet again, no, it doesnt matter if the zaugg is buried. this year, there was a major major difference that none of you faggots understand, we did not make any snow because the water company fucked us, so we had to rely on natural snow, and I know that you all think that we had enough snow in january but that is not the case, if we were truly slacking do you think that we would have flown a guy out from spt for a week to come build? do you really understand the amount of snow it takes to build 20 foot pipe walls after it has all be track packed? the problem is you guys dont take into consideration how good our jibs really are, go to other mountains and i guarentee the quality of our park on average is miles above, to be honest though, i dont give a shit what you guys think, we bust our asses and the weather isnt cooperating, and to be honest if 100 of you guys didnt ski at the pass or get season passes do you think it would hurt our business? uh, no. so go bitch and whine somewhere else. and when it snows this much, you have no business in the park, go ski pow. o wait, half of you cant ride worht a shit outside the park.

sounds like you need a reservoir or some new wells

my firm was involved in the mission ridge reservoir (18 million gallons) and now we're involved with stevens pass (reservoir for domestic, wells for snow making)

when's the last time you guys scoped a master development plan?

Pipe is now open at Central, and it was super slushy up there today. Upper Central park is still closed.

Alpental should be interesting when it re-opens.

Slushy is an understatement in some areas. Bottom park was looking nice, those jumps look real good. Is the quarterpipe being put up after the pipe again?

Slushy deffinately was an understatement, but it made for forgiving landings

The bottom jump line (2 jumps) was money, and so was the down rail afterwards,

They are putting the quarter pipe back in

Anyone know if they ever got central express to start running agian?? ( my buddy and i ditched, after the epic snowball fight of course)

That first one in the jump line is still too poppy for that flat landing, but the slush helped. Bottom jump was a lot of fun though, you can take that thing so big.

Yeah, it looks like they will build a quarter at the bottom of the pipe, as there is a lot of snow piled up down there.

Cexpress started up a bit after you left, jbar20. And thank you for that snowball fight, it was just starting to really get going when the lifties shut us down. Oh well. Another day.

Park Update

Top park is back up, everything is the same except for the rail yard.

There is a pipe laid flat now, instead of it being a up/boner and has a lip.

There is a new jib too, its like a station wagon jib, its a up box with a ton of little kinks, its like up,down, flat, up, down or something like that. The Flat down box is open too

everything is a little higher up now especially the down pipe at the beginning of the cat track

The pipe was pretty bad today, really icy walls and rocks sticking out in a few places, stupid rain

The quarter pipe is open too, im not sure if there done with it, it just doesnt look as big as last year but im fine with the size it is right now.

also looks like there getting ready to put the staircase in soon.

And who the fuck are you?

Do you work there? Are you some sort of authoritative figure or something? Quit running your gums and leave if you hate snoqualmie so much.
