Snoqualmie/alpental are still open

I'm not sure if soccer is as gay as S.F. Defenitley gayer than skiing, But Pro Futbol players are like some of the narlyest athletes on earth. A step up sounds nice!

Actually I went up yesterday and sessioned it, but I broke both of my ankles so the ski patrol blew it up~

BOOTER SESSION SATURDAY.

We will meet at 10:30 at the top of 2 and then head out to build or reuse features, conditions permitting.

I am in need of a step up, and if I can locate some salt, I will bring it. We need a big crew, and the weather should be good.

And yes, I know you have finals. I do too, and I'll be there, so no whining and show ups. Ok? Ok.

i will most likely be there. looking for a ride still but im pretty sure i'll be going. i'll leave the mountain nice and crispy too haha. supposed to be like 70 up there

yeah me too, I'm most likely getting a ride up. If not, I'll take a fucking bus somewhere close and hitchhike, I need my fix. haven't skied in a month and a half dammit

go to guest services and get another one. i did it earlier this season and got another one fo free.

or they will just give you a free day pass since they have your name on file

A major change in the weather pattern is about to be

experienced over the Northwest Thursday through this weekend.

A strong ridge of high pressure and warm air mass is about to

move over the region. This is expected to cause sunny hot

weather beginning Thursday and continuing through the weekend.

Freezing levels should rise to near or over 15,000 feet over

much of the Northwest by later Thursday and stay nearly that

high through the weekend.

This upcoming hot weather is expected to cause a widespread

spring avalanche cycle in most areas starting Thursday. The

relatively prolonged hot weather should melt and weaken

significant near surface snow and allow melt water to possibly

percolate to deeper older weak layers. This is most likely on

slopes facing the sun but should also be likely on any steep

aspects. Deep avalanches are possible. Some slides may release

to or near the ground, involving the entire winter’s snowpack.

The expected large wet snow avalanches may travel very fast

and run long distances, possibly to lower elevations where

little or no snow cover may remain or to valley floors.

We do not recommend back country travel near any avalanche

terrain Thursday and Friday and possibly through the weekend.

Initially small wet loose avalanches may trigger large and

deeper wet loose or wet slab avalanches. Back country

travelers should also avoid slopes below cornices or gullies

and flat areas below avalanche run out zones. A lack of

refreezing at night may contribute to the avalanche cycle.

Remember that boot or ski penetration of more than a few

inches can indicate snow is becoming significantly unstable on

steep slopes.

Wahh wahh wahhhhh. It's 1.5 hours from where I live and I'm still trekking. Go to your avalanches, or pay a little extra in gas to come to premade booters and roads to the top!

six hours of driving is like just as expensive as a lift ticket... besides the fact that Ive got shits to do saturday night, getting back at 7 or whatever wouldnt work out~

But there are no lift tickets! Baker's closed! You'd pay for a lift ticket + driving at Alpy yes? Or maybe you have season pass, but either way it's not that much more. But if you have to be back in time for dinner, that's acceptable. ;)

Looks like staying in bounds is where I'm going to be. Climax avalanches are only for the very brave, and I'm not cool enough to deal with them yet.

Hey guys,

Speaking of there still being lots of snow left in the Northwest.... I am living in Metaline Falls in Pend Oreille Cointy, Washington this summer for an internship and am looking for people to maybe do some late-season Ski mountaineering around here with. Metaline Falls is in the middle of nowhere [seriously, look it up] in way northestern Washington like 50 miles south of Nelson, B.C, in the Selkirk Mountains. I was amazed to see how how snow there still is up high here; looks like it should still be good for a while! I have an A.T setup [K2 Seth's with Duke Bindings, Skins, ect..] and Avy Gear, plus a lot of general backcountry travel stuff. I'll be free pretty much every weekend, am also def. interested in hitting up some of the Mountains around Nelson B.C and maybe farther in Canada.... prob. make a few trips out to Whistler for some summer glacier skiing. Anyways yeah shoot me an email and if anyone else finds themselves way up in Northeastern WA let me know!!

Peace,

Phil Persson

No money? Soccer? No pass? Metaline falls and slush slides!! My Excuse is I'm hitting Lake Washington in my party Yacht to ski the water , all I have to do is bring the blender. And it will be in the water when I get there!! Its hot and the water is cold and so is the beer ,and I don't have to drive cause my partner doesn't drink. But I'll be up Sunday for the left overs! Can any of you be there for Sunday? It would be reckless to open the BC with this warming,,, Metaline sounds Rad so stay in touch Dude,,I'll be up next year for some NCHS , Thats right .. Randy Sackets!!

Didn't stop them from opening Knoll 1.

As for Scott, Billy and I, we terrorized the mogul fields everywhere. And my arms are ridiculously sunburnt. With a glove tan. Ha.

If you are headed up tomorrow, watch out for the cracks that are everywhere. My buddy Chris got worked by some today.

Yeah that was a fun day. I have the most epic goggle tan ever, hung out with some peeps and had to explain to everyone I was a skiier, and it was a mark of pride. Also just woke up from 4 hours of sleep and couldnt take a shower because of these sunburns.... yeah...

Alpental goes one more weekend...Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

www.summitatsnoqualmie.com/info/winter/spring_schedule.asp

'The forecast for next weekend is looking great and we still have tons of snow...SO WE'RE GOING FOR IT! Alpental will once again be extended to allow you turns this Memorial Weekend, Saturday, May 24th, Sunday, May 25th, as well as Monday, May 26th!

What an amazing year to be a lover of snow! With over 591" of snow so far this season, there is more snow predicted for this week! What does that mean for you? A long and excellent spring in the mountains. Already dreaming of what the 2008-2009 season will hold? Be sure to check out next season's Big S Passes today.

Here's what we're planning:

Alpental: (Update!) Open this Memorial Weekend, Saturday, May 24th, Sunday, May 25th, as well as Monday, May 26th! This season is definitely one of the longest Alpental has ever had!

All other base areas are now closed for the season. Thanks for helping us make this the longest season in over 30 years at Summit Central, and the longest season the tubing center has ever had!'

I suppose there will be yawn crevasses everywhere, but hey, they just make things more interesing.

I really do enjoy how dedicated Alpental is to being open for their passholders. I doubt very much they are making money at this point.

Got to love crazy people in the higher ups who actually care about getting to ski. YAY!
