~Sniff- -Sniff~ Happy Dayz Bombed

Well after finally seeing Happy Dayz, I must say, I was somewhat dissapointed. First of all the segments were short. They didn't flow well with eachother. The music was mediocre (enough with the Swollen Members). The reason I didn't find it as exciting this year was probably because Propaganda was lengthly, and there were so many original aspects (loop, backflip to rail, d-spin off large cliff, roller-coaster rail etc.) and Happy Dayz only had continuios shots of the red wall ride and that down spiral rail (which was great, but it just got old). So anyway, I would rather watch In The Haze, Propaganda etc. Let me know what you guys think...

p.s. I haven't seen Stereotype yet (maybe the 2 combined would've been better).

I'm not quite sure how to respond to that, but I guess everyones input is appreciated. Freedom of speech is cool with me. Oh ya, and in no way am I trying to diss PBP I've loved their movies since 13 and they're what first inspired me to ski.

Hey Tyler, how old is this Austin kid?

Uh, I think he's 7million cents and three days old.

Wooowww.

''Give one dude a BJ, shame on you. Give two dudes a BJ, shame on me.''

I don't know how you can say that about Happy Days! There is so much progression shown in this flick. What about the zero spins over the house or how they hit up a water tower. Just look at Candide's segment alone. This kids was flipping and doing rotaions with grabs off rails, huge d-spins and the like off that back country gap jump, that huge table that he massacred, and the boot cam. What else can you ask for?

-Ninjas are sooooooooooo sweet that I want to crap my pants.

bleh, bleh, bleh...we've all seen snowboarders do that shit at least two years ago.

I don't think you ever get the full appreciation of a ski movie the first time you watch it. You dont' notice all the little things that make each trick so mint. the music wasn't bad, and what's wrong with swollen memebers? if there was one song instead of two would that have been better? maybe half the guys had a shot of the wall, not a big deal, how can you say the segs were short, each was a song long, do you want them to pick longer songs? and the spiral rail didn't have that many shots, it's awesome why would you only put it in once? besides, unless my memory fails me only four guys had a shot on it, two had two shots and two had one on it. hwo do you figure that's lots for such a mint rail? w/e, not tryin to rag on you, just tryin to persuade your opinion.

What you gotta look for is to notice who's spinning what trick unnaturally, grinding both ways, holding grabs really long, smoothness, and there's always those tricks that just look different or are done really well. Like a misty is a misty. you can throw a misty like Mike D, not a problem they're technically perfect, or you can throw a misty like, I think it was Henrik, and make it look incredible with the smoothness, style, and flow.

Same thing goes for stereotype, i wasn't too impressed at first because of the quite gay soundtrack and simpleness of most of the tricks, it wasn't till later I noticed how perfect they were being done and got a deeper appreciation for the movie. dash is awesome, so is Mike and Crichton.

peace,

yea... the water tower was totaly two years ago... do they think that we don't watch snowboard videos? they didn't even go as big on it as the snowboarders did - that's just lame.

and austin - go check out strike 3 - it is probably the best movie to this date.

well now i just don't know what to put for my signature. hey look, it's snowing out.

What you are saying is true, but he is comparing this flick to other ski movies. This one doesn't not pale in comparison to other ski movies.

Freeze once wrote 'If you want to make a good ski movie, just buy a snowboard movie from 2 or 3 years ago and just copy that' Snowboarders may be a little ahead of us, but we're catching up.

I agree completely that it bombed. I posted on the poor boyz website and johnny d wrote me back. I'm just happy to see that I'm not the only one who would actually dislike something poor boyz released.

Buy Afterbang! THe new Robotfood vid. Absolutely fuckin rad! Get a head start on the trends you little turds will be following in two years!

yeah the second or third time i watched it i started to like it even more because i noticed how sick the tricks were with grabs and slow rotations and other stuff like that, i like raps segment so much now cause he tweaks that grab out behind him in the sickest way and he spins slow and its sick, also you appreciate the fluidity if all of pep's rails and how he is so smooth, and all of candide's and tanner's stuff is so sick, like tanner's d-spin 1080 over the spine and candide's huge d-spin (i think) over the massive step up and the massive table, there are so many sick shots in that movie and all of the other riding is sick too

All im disapointed with, is the open's to movies are getting lame and watered, down,

I mean in 13 there's alot of crazy shit, it's like pop in your face, and thats great because it gets no-skiers into it and they want to watch it,

its like crusty 2000 has a fucken insaine into, you put that movie on at a party and everybodys hooked for the first few movies, same with bumfights,

it's schock value, that you can't get anywhere else.

with that said, i haven''t seen blunt, or Loosecanonproductions, but i know that these movies probley cater more to the non-skier....

a jib movie gets boring after about 3 clips if your showing it to a girl that doesn't even ski so.....

HD has great filming, really good editing, but it was short...

hhahahahhaa gaypride is the funniest human being alive... unless he's really gay, then we should stomp him

Happy Dayz is fucking sick, period. Candide, Dorion, Cusson, Hall, Olsson, Johnson, Belanger, Larose, Szocs, Poirier, Fujas all have sick segments.

And yes, Afterbang (Robot Food) is by far the sickest thing ever to be filmed. Best vid by far, ever. That video only has like 3 inverts in it, that's what I like to see, spins with grabs and style, inverts are played out, just wait, in skiing in like 2-3 years, no one will be throwing inverts, Every segment in that vid is amazing, like you cannot say there is one bad segment, and no inverts, ahahah, yes.

Snowboarders are soo far ahead like Benedek is throwing all four 9's, backside, fronside, switch and regular for both, thats like a skier throwing regular 9, unnatural 9, switch 9 and switch unnatural 9. Most pro boarders can throw the 4 sevens, I cant think of a single skier who can through all four sevens. Skiers need to forget about last years trick and start progressing this shit, I think everyone has seen Raps throw enough D-spins for there lifetime. Everyone is throwing cork 7's everywhere, all the time. Pro's need to get past the cork 7 for fuck sakes. I want to see someone throw a switch unnatural 5 or 7 with style, not another flatspin of cork 7. Also, in Happy Dayz, no one is really throwing unnatural, everyone talks about it, but really in that vid Pep and Poirier are the only ones who do it to any degree, sure some guys do it in a three, try seven or nine. You should really watch Afterbang Benedek does a frontside 7 and a switch frontside 9 on the same jump right after each other. And no inverts.

Actually, I shouldn't say most pro boarders can through all 4 sevens, I should say most pro's at the top right now can throw all 4, that's why there at the top.

Repre-what? Word, Shane! THis is true. Jussi, Joni, Benedek and all the boys at Robotfood are bringin it back to the days when you 'noseblunted' an entire run just cause it was so much fun. Less attitude, fun shit! These guys are like doing little blunt 180's comin into the hits at the last second and then spinning like over-corked 9's and 7's. The rails are amazing, not to mention Parker's nosepress over the gas bar. Pure steez. I was dissapointed in Happy Daze. Never really got me amped at all. This video did. By riders, for riders! Enjoyed the soundtrack too. Different! If anyone has ever seen the Source! An old snowboard movie, with the likes of Jon Boyer in it. He had a segment that was him just riding this spine in Cali. Back and forth, blunting and spinning off this spine and it has stuck in my head for years! Super old video but a seg. from the future! Bring it back! Less Attitude! More FUN!

And Cindi Lauper would fuckin rock in a segment, seriously! Stop taking yourselves so serious turds!

I luv Happy Dayz. If ur into Big Mt. Skiing its not ur type of movie though. The music was sick i thought and even though the skiers scenes weren't too long its all about quality not quantity. Right? I thought Jonny D. did great with this movie. Almost as good as Propoganda... if not better.

Hoked on foniks wurked fur me. kant u tel?

i just saw the trailer to afterbang, and that looks like one of the freshest snowboard videos ever. It seemed like they were able to not only make a movie that was (for the lack of a better word) fun, but it also gets you amped to go out and snowboard or ski. Ski and snowboard videos these days are getting all caught up in showing the 'most progressive tricks.' Well fuck that, i want a video that delivers some substance. With afterbang, they seem to be taking a step in the right direction. Don't get me wrong, i still enjoy videos like Happy Dayz, but its gettin a little stale.

Markers don't suck!

Damn straight, things are happenin' in the midwest!

happy dayz was so damn sick. jon olson's part... my god....
