Im planning on getting the M&P next month and couldnt deciede on .40 or 9mm. I currently EDC a 9mm and a buddy of mine said stick to the same caliber for ammo, saving money etc... BUT I recently discovered that there are conversion barrels to take the .40 to a 9mm or even .357. So barrel plus new mags be looking at roughly $200 and you pretty much have two guns now! Anyone have any experience with this???

No experience nor have I heard of converting the barells. I don't know how that would work when it comes to magazines. Unless a 9mm mag is the same size as a .40

Yeah I would like to have a variety of calibers so thats why I would want the .40 and then for just a couple hundred bucks more I can make it a 9. I shot the .40 and loved it, I was instantly sold. I can only imagine how nice the 9 is too. Thats why I want both! ha

are you planning on carrying concealed? a .40 subcompact would be a good one for that. only problem with those over the .9 is the price of the damn ammo.

Just get the m&p .40 you will not regret it. Its not that much morefor ammo. Reload your casings if you want to. Solid gun though. I would take a. 40 sigma over a m&p .9mm though but thats just me I guess.

I already carry a 9mm. Well where I am you can only buy 3 boxes at once of any kind of ammo... So I can either get 3 boxes of 9 OR three boxes of 9 and three boxes of .40. Im pretty excited to get the conversion barrel! shoot the 40 a bit then one min later ive got a 9 that I can shoot.

thats fuckin sick. i've heard of them but never really looked them up in detail. i gotta check those out. i live in NYS though so who knows what kind of laws there are, its nuts.

Yeah the more I think about it the more I just realized what a deal it is. The problem is now finding the barrel and mags. Ill make sure to post a review once I get the full set up and can get some good range time. Ill report back in a few months!
