Small World?

Haven't head anything yet regarding the movie. Overall feel? Stand out segments? Better or worse then previous Level 1 films? Give the people of NS your report from last nights showing.

being 100% honest it was my least favorite of the Level 1 movies so far. that being said its still a level 1 production so its obviously worth a watch

I thought it was a great film, better than Less in my eyes. They did divide it up by location and it worked out really well. Sami Ortlieb is insanely good at skiing anything, Khai and Mitchel are nuts in the streets. Good variety in the skiing and I really liked how there was a more solid presence of park shoots than last year. The first 20 minutes of the movie hit really hard and were so Level 1, it was perfect. If anything I bet it just felt different than previous films because of the way it was split by location and that the riders have changed a lot in the last couple of years. Definitely worth the purchase on Vimeo next week.

It was different, but still good. Cinematography was better than anything Level 1 has done before for sure, but it was definitely a lot of b roll not as much skiing. Long transitions between shots, and tons of pulling back the bungee b roll shots. Either way still good! Better than Less.

As many others and Josh said at the premiere, it's unlike any film they've made before - it had a more fun vibe to it. Not as serious and had less individual skier segments than previous films. Many group trips at different locations.

The filming quality was a huge step up from last year, lots of sick drone shots...the quality was just amazing.

I didn't get too blow away by the skiing in this year's film compared to others. Maybe that's because of the riders in it, who knows. But I really enjoyed everything Sami Ortlieb put down throughout the film - I don't know much about him but he killed it. Also seeing T Rains ski was so enjoyable as always

Even with a massive kicker to step-down, helicopters and Vinny$, the best park shoot of the movie was done with 10 foot jumps and rope-tows.

Midwest reppin. We need more attention than we get, having a small park doesn't mean it sucks.

Couldnt disagree more. The whale tail setup was insane and definitely one of my favorite parts of the film. I personally enjoyed the movie and liked how it was split by location. To me everything was real sick and definitely worth the watch.

It definetly had a different vibe than other Level 1 movies. I liked it a lot, no crazy shots, but a solid amount of bangers for sure, I would buy it and watch it again.

Level 1 fucking sucks. They should've released this 2 months later. I'm fucking amped for skiing after watching that and now I have to wait a long time to go skiing. Fuck you level 1.

Sorry not sorry.

Trailer was pretty sick, couple of those shots blew the Insta B-Clips out of the water. Stoked to eventually check the rest of it out

Loved it, nothing but bangers. Also love how they did it by location instead of rider segments. It was gr8 for sure 10/10 would recommend watching.

Will it be available through itunes too or just vimeo this time??

It will be available on iTunes and other digital platforms in mid-late October. Unfortunately it takes a while for them to process...

Sorry Level 1, I've been buying your films every year since Refresh, I'm a big fan, but Small World just didn't do it for me. Way too much pow, not nearly enough urban, and not many bangers compared to previous years. Sure there was some creative stuff, and a cool vibe, but the skiing wasn't progressive if you compare it to Partly Cloudy, Sunny, or even Less. And the Minnesota segment to end it was pretty disappointing, with such a solid crew I was hoping for a banger urban segment to end it. I understand there was no snow, but ending a movie with that...

If this is true, it makes me happy and more inclined to buy it. I love watching pow and park stuff, but could care less about urban.

Also, I don't think skiing need to be 'progressive' to make a great movie. I mean, look at the Nimbus guys. They haven't done anything different or super 'progressive' since IDEA, but I would rather watch them over just about anyone else.

Like every movie, the music will largely make or break it for me.

Well fuck you too then

Hey now. The minnesota segment was cool, although i can agree it wasn't a great ender. Still colt hough in my eyes, and its great to show the midwest which gets heavily overlooked.

thanks for your review. This actually made my mind up about buying the movie. I get bored of too much urban and not enough pow.

and like sas said, the music will make me love it or hate it. Hence why my favorite is Eye Trip

The skiing didn't really blow me away but the movie was still one of my favorites. I felt like it was a big step forward for Level 1 in establishing/refining their style.

This movie is awesome. Well done as always Level 1. Well rounded, high level progressive banister/metal riding, great jumps, powder, Sami Ortlieb, good times and dare we say it PEOPLE SMILING LAUGHING AND HAVING A GOOD TIME!

10/10. Plus when you buy it on Vimeo you don't have the issues with iTunes and you can download and put on all your face screens. Go get it! #supportyourlocalskimoviecompany

it was dope. plenty of incredible riding: from the street to the park to the backcountry powder. huge newcomers Sami ortlieb and noah aladelbalejo are so sick. really creative skiing and really creative cinematography.

i actually loved it way more than less or partly cloudy im not an urban person so that makes sense but i think it was really really well done and it got me incredibly hyped for the general fun and camaraderie that accompanies skiing during the season

Dear Level 1,

Please release all the good shots that didn't make the movie. I was impressed with the shots in the credits. Stop hiding cool things from me.

Sincerely,

John Cena

I can't see your post

4frnt BC trip was a sleeper hit, didn't expect that at all.

Also the overall creativity in this movie was sky high, lots of stuff you've never seen before.

Small world was fire. More fire then less but I really liked the style and cinematography of less more. Good to see level 1 changing it up though.

really dug the vibes, enjoyed the whole movie. slightly disappointed by the whistler seggy though. expected way more bangers from that shoot. but overall movie is worth a watch

LJ nearly killing that little kid after shooting through the trees is a pretty accurate representation of Hyland. If you do a weird line that crosses paths with another line, you're going to hit someone. If you do a normal line, you're going to hit someone anyways.

Gotta agree with LINE on this one, great flick! The vibe had a smile on my face throughout the whole movie. Camera work was the best from Level 1 yet, banger tricks galore too. Definitely got us hyped up for the snow to start piling up. Only a little jealous of all the places the Level 1 crew got to ski together throughout the year...

Also was really stoked on the closing segment, awesome to see how down to earth the crew is and how they can connect with local skiers at the hill. Going from huge, perfectly groomed heli shoot to a local park scene was awesome.. doesn't matter how or where you ski, it's all the same stoke right? Small World indeed.

I watched it last night and its one of the best ski films i have seen in ages. Great mix of differnt riding styles and i really liked seeing guys like will skiing the mountain instead of just rails, really showed what verstile skiers some of the crew are.

The soundtrack was awesome and most of the tracks matche the vibe very well. The boston and Alaska segments were probably my favs but its all well worth watching.

Look wise its easily getting up to msp standards but with more of a selection of ski styles which will apeal to ns more then msp.
