there is nothing under a $1mil on the market that wont require a few million in basic operational improvements to re-open.

Theres a place near Tahoe but the chairlifts wont pass state inspection.

Maple Valley is $2mil firm(think they want to a make a subdivision out of it) and the chair lifts are very close to not passing inspection. Also not enough snowmaking to survive a east coast winter..one of the reasons its closed. but for $2mil you could lay new pipes and install new pumps but then you a little problem of not having the water rights to feed the system.

Whaleback has potential and someone is working on it already.

a few places in the mid west are cheap but you get what you pay for.

There is a little place next to steamboat in colorado called howelson and i bet if you offered them money they might sell it...in fact that is the place where they invented the pipe dragon(the groomer thingy for halfpipes)

 
Howleson is owned by the city of steamboat springs if im not mistaken, and i doubt they would sell it

Temple Mountain.. its in New Hampshire, its small, i know its got at least one chairlift and a lodge.. it would be a dope 'skier only' jibfest of a mountain

marshall moutain by missoula montana is for sale for like $500,000 ,it went out of business in 02, then the city of Missoula bought it and ran it for 03 and during 04 o one ran it and its still for sale. its so low it doesnt get enough snow so you would have to invest a lot in snow making if you bought it. message me for more info

Whaleback is no longer for sale as far as I know, I am pretty sur someone bought it. It is actually in a sweet place and could make sick park on it, it is only like 45 minutes north of Concord right on 89. As far as I know it was being sold for a million, pretty cheap in ski area terms. But I am pretty sure it has been bought already and will be open next year.

 
Sugar Loaf in Michigan is still available from the folks who bought it at auction in April.
