SLVSH

I think live slvsh would be better left as an idea..

I think one of the biggest things that makes slvsh so entertaining is how the games are edited.

A live slvsh game would take way too long. And if it’s just one rail or just jumps it would get boring pretty fast.

I dunno. I don’t like the sound of that at all.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a full game, could be on one rail or one jump that has a fast tow ride up or something. Or what if you had two games going at a time and you just alternated? It would be a ton of work and be difficult to execute, but i wouldn't discourage anyone from dreaming.

The multiple games at once focused around one central feature/area is the key I think.

Yeah and judging can be done by the announcer in between sets, that would suck up some time

Yeah man, live Svlsh would be so fucking good. Again *wink* joss/walker *wink*

If he/they pull that off I would be very impressed. One must have talent for business & know a lot about producing in general to be taken seriously by a TV network like ESPN and land a deal. As far as I know the SLVSH crew has the skills to do this, but my impression with the TV (& film) industry in general you need the connections and a lot of luck to succeed. However imo, the interest & youtube view count for SLVSH makes up for a good argument and could be appealing to ESPN for example, + who says it's only skiers that's allowed to play SLVSH ;) Make a good pitch and get payed!

I'll take my 10% later.

The Berrics became popular largely as a result of Battle at the Berrics.

SLVSH is basically the same concept and I could totally see a similar growth trajectory for Joss & Walker. A little more difficult to scale with the lack of a "home base" if you will, but I'd bet on them rolling out new content (like instabangers etc.) in the next few years and becoming the hub of freeskiing. I'd kill to take a look at their DevBoards

I wonder what the difference is between the demand for ski content and skate content. Obviously skating is so much more accessible because you don't need $1k+ worth of gear and passes and be in a place with mountains, all you need is a skateboard. That being said, it would still be interesting to see those numbers.

Bro, you don't need ESPN, you don't need to "land a deal" you just need capitol and a youtube channel.

Ah, right. I was just thinking TV because LIVE :) But the best way of making this happen on a bigger scale (if they want to) and even making it work for other action sports than skiing and for snow could potentially bring in some serious bank to SLVSH. I feel like there's opportunities here up for grabs. But as you said in one of the previous pages one must sell out a little to make some money today, and I think this could be a way to do this. Sure they don't need ESPN or any other channel, but it could be a quick way to expand and make bigger bucks!

Imagine having SLVSH for snowboard, inline, skateboarding (I know they have s.k.a.t.e but SLVSH could be adding even more perhaps) etc. Rename if they have to.

Just an ambitious thought ofc, but they could make it work yes?

Or do you think doing on their own (taking more time obviously) makes more sense? Also taking away the control factor away which will happen in a TV network.

Thinks?

EDIT: I see you talk about that berricks stuff, so my idea doesn't work I guess.

There were some east coast games this year, but I don’t think they posted them on the site. SLVSH came to my home mountain and it was sick /claim. I can’t find the game tho.

Probably coming out in a month or so or they hold them till Fall. The Ruka instabanger was shot end of April last year and posted in October

Huge difference, more or less incomparable. I haven't done the maths but a few posts back someone said the Slvsh cup was at around 6-700k total views on YouTube. By comparison the latest Battle At The Berries is at around 500-700k views per game with 32 games rather than 16. So rough ballpark that's around 17-20 million views.

I wonder how many ski folks know where the concept of SLVSH even came from?

I know.

Kids must still be doing it even today. If not, then how would SLVSH exist today?

Why did Henrik keep saying "shaolin" to everyone like it's their name?

Because he calls Charlie, one of the people responsible for these games (filming Henrik in this instance -- and editing), Chaolin. Henrik was making sure his follow-cam was good to go.

Quinn was one spot shy of making the Olympic slope style team for Korea. Beat out by Alex hall, who he beat in this slvsh cup. He almost landed a fuckin SWITCH alley oop dub 10 BLUNT first try...off a side hit.. If that was on his last letter I would bet money on Quinn landing it on his second go. Claiming henny has a “plethora” of tricks Quinn doesn’t..is really silly.

A lot of you guys really underestimate how good Quinn is at skiing. And he’s only gonna get better. Him and Alex hall are on course to become the best park skiers the world has ever seen. By the time they’re henriks age they’re going to be doing things you’d never think were possible, hell they’re doing that now and they’re only 19/20.

I think people are overlooking why everyone in the Slvsh cup was referring to Henrik as a god. People seemed to get frustrated because they thought he got preferential treatment and that he didn't deserve the W. It seems people also got annoyed by him barking all the time and calling repeat sets, or making Hunter Hess blind surface swap multiple times (which is fair and ultimately pushed Hunter to pretty much have them down by the end of the game, which is pretty much the whole purpose of Slvsh).

Henrik deserved that W. He skied one of the better games in Slvsh history in the final, and overall it was as fairly reffed as anyone could every realistically ask for. Beyond all of that Henrik has given so much to the sport past most comp skiers, (Inspired East Coast Tour, B&E Invintational, BE Inspired, and so on) and, not to minimize Quinn, A-Hall, or others at all, but I don't know if anyone is going to give that much to skiing by the time their 26 or ever for that matter.

Also, while I am on this rant, on an open big air jump, Henrik could indeed call a vast plethora of tricks that Quinn most likely doesnt have. Just to list a few: tail butter dub 10 blunt, unnatural nosebutter doubles, nose butter triple 16, unnattural switch triple 14 rip the dank (Im pretty sure Quinn hasnt sent a triple yet, natural or unnatural), dub bio 12 tindy, dub 16 blunt, flat 1, bio 14 tindy, switch doubles with shifties in the first cork, and so on. What's also insane is with all the tricks listed, you could find a video of Henrik doing them flawlessly. Not that Quinn won't get a lot of these over time and Im truly stoked to see where Quinn goes with his ill skiing, but let's also not minimize where Henrik is at with his skiing and how good he is either.

Ahhh I see, I think he might've done the same in his instabanger.

What's that all about? Why so many? It kinda pisses me off after seeing how great SLVSH has been. Maybe i don't see all the angles, but i can only see SLVSH building up the freeski community not tearing it down.

It's because downvotes on any post in the thread count towards that number. So if a post has 30 downvotes for whatever reason, that adds 30 to the downvote tally. Make sense?

Mystery solved. I have been told it's Trevor McGowen. Worked at Mammoth.

Not known if he still does. Connection with SLVSH dudes unknown.

you're naming all these double tricks and triple tricks like the slvsh cup jump made them possible... Yeah I honestly don't think Quinn would've been able to do all those tricks but Quinn and A-Hall are still super capable skiers. SLVSH cup wise I still think Woodsy shouldn't of called Henrik's last trick good and we'll see how it would've went from there.

Sad that harlaut slayed him so fast. Emil is next level for sure.

Me too. Especially seeing how far Hugo went. I’ve always kinda seen Emil as the better of the two (at least before Hugo’s showing in this years big air circuit). It’s hard to hang with the king. Would have loved to see him against someone else

Yoo hot damn AHall's sw left 7 off that hip thing was SO bangin. Glad AHall won. He's clearly the better, or at least cleaner, skiier.

On a side note, who runs the UBC Freeride account? The president? Or a media position? Just curious!
