SLVSH

Sick game! This is pretty insignificant, but did anyone notice Woodsy’s line at 5:57? He called the sw2b2 on the donkey. Tom hit the down bar on the other side and still got the call.

This is true, though Woodsy spins right while Tom left. Either way, no donkey doesn’t much change the feature, if not makes it harder to b2.

Both skiers goin for the throat! You could tell Alex wasn’t pleased with all the jump calls, and just went straight ‘fuck you’ with the 2 right cork calls.

i would’ve liked to see more rail trickery, but a very good, intense game

Damn really wished to see Aleksi win that one. A-Hall gave off a really bad vibe and I didn't fuck with it. Winning on the sw dub 9 too was bs.

What?! After aleksi threw cork 5 screamin I wouldn’t have cared if ahall called dub 12 seatbelt, he deserved that shit

I beg to differ. I'd say a blind 2 off a mellow down rail is far easier than possibly getting bucked on the donkey (which looked pretty sharp). I can consistently do blind 2's on down rails but sometimes on donkeys i got bucked and land hella front seat.

“A bad vibe” the dude is a competitor and was all fired up, I think that made it even more fun to watch. I would have been giving him the finger too after cork 5 screamin and bio 10 stale. Except if I had to do either of those I’d be in an ambulance giving him the finger.

Idk. Just seemed a little too tense and hostile for a slvsh game. All i'm saying

Valid point

As soon as Aleksi opened up all the same nose tricks Alex had a rough time with it was fair game. Alex started with very fair sets I thought

Can someone who knows these guys provide any more context? I get that A-hall was fired up but the arm waving, and at one point giving Aleksi the finger, seemed like a lot.

I mean pretty difficult yes, but lots of people can screamin 5........didn't seem too out of bounds. Definitely one of the most competitive slvsh games yet though. A-halls defense will be one for the history books seriously wtf does he eat

As soon as shit like left hand right nose and right hand left nose started getting called Ahall had every right to get fired up. I’d say arguably the amount of people that can step up and do a cork 5 screamin first try is less than the number of people that can do the same with a swr dub 9.

Shit doesn’t always have to be daps and sunshine in these games, I thought seeing someone get fired up was fun as a viewer

I also think Ahall was tired of getting worked on the jumps. He fell pretty bad twice. I'd be over it too

Fun to watch people pushing each other, definitely not great vibes when the competitors are more worried about losing/throwing the other person off than getting to try new tricks. Idk. It was like a Henshaw v McEachran game. To me it seemed like Aleksi was having fun and AHall felt threatened.

Agreed. Also its worth noting that aleksi was pissed because Steve didn't count his last set because he only landed with a slight handrag where steve has counted all slight handrags before as legitimate .

epic game! was tense at the end but ahall had quite a few fall which must of taken there toll. even though aleksi was calling some big tricks it didn't really seem to carry the weight because his just such a nice guy and always smiling and joking. maybe a couple of rail tricks might of softened it up a little. both guys crushed it and shout out for steve for the reffing. was pretty consistent

that was insane!

i hope they were able to bury the hatchet afterward, i really like both those two. i don't blame them for getting heated, skiing is brutal enough without getting pressured into shit you're not comfortable with

seriously, respect to everyone who even participates in Slvsh, that's some hard shit

Aleksi thought his best chance was the jump calls, which almost injured A-Hall two times. A-Hall got angry, got him back. You get as you give :P

Anyhow, note how long Aleksi took to almost win, and how fast A-Hall took it back. Two jumps, two letters. I get that A-Hall is a heavy comp skier and has more tricks than Patja, but I still think it was fair. Some tense and unfortunate moments in there, but I still enjoyed it!

A-Hall - Harlaut will be fun to watch (just assuming things ofc).

The set is always judged more harshly than the defense, I thought Steve was actually pretty consistent as far as that goes

Unreal game but giving Aleksej the finger was totally uncalled for.

i think he was fucking around, man. seemed like he made him try a trick he didn't really want to do and was just messing around. grow up.

Agreed. Anyway I thought that he leaned a tiny bit too much on that hand to count the bio9. Good judging all the way through.

yeah I think a light hearted middle finger is certainly warranted upon successful defense of a really hard set

Making him try a trick that he doesn’t want to do is part of the game, and what makes Slvsh so great. He should be gracious about it, not pissed because he doesn’t want to loose. It wasn’t ‘fucking around.’ Careful who you tell to grow up, some of us are.

We need some i n d u s t r y i n s i g h t to figure out what was going on there

But for real sick game love seeing the competition

Things are bound to get heated in any competition. What a great game, A Hall is on another level.

Also shout out to Steve for being funny without being a try hard and keeping the calls sensible.

I mean, the point of the game is to win. It wasnt like andri was there throwing quads. Aleksi was on offense for most of the game. Thats more fun than having to play defense over and over and over again agaist tricks youre not comfortable with.

These guys at the slvsh cup hang out together every day, ski together every day, I'm sure at the top ahall was like "fuck ive never done this before, ima land it" and then was stoked when he landed it and was fucking around with aleksi. You guys take shit way too seriously.

To anyone who was saying what ahall did was bs/cheap/etc need to understand this is a contest, there is legit money on the line and why wouldn't they want to win? Aleksi when ham on ahall and he matched everything, two day game of course ahall just nailed in the coffin with some hard tricks, he didnt set for like what, 7 or 8 tricks? Its a game, the skiers are going to do tricks they think will win the match.

Yeah I wondered about that call as well, I liked Steve's reffing, but giving Aleksi a letter for that didn't seem in line with the rest of his calls

you think people need to be gracious in a game of slvsh? are you joking?

i was working out yesterday and one of my workout partner lapped me. I gave them a light-hearted middle finger as i was walking over to the erg and realized they had lapped me. should i have just been gracious?

how grown are you that you can't discern when someone is fucking around and doesn't really mean to say "fuck you?"

I understand the competitive vibe of not wanting to get knocked out first round of a comp you traveled to compete in, I just don't want to see this cup to turn into a shitshow of riders calling their safety tricks that they know the others can't do because they want the $$.

You want the competition to be less competitive? You realize that makes absolutely no sense, right?

Y’all are soft.

Sick game. Big ups to SLVSH for putting this on. There have been some great games and I’m sure there are plenty more to come. I’m already excited for the next slvsh cup:)

Yeah I want to see high risk high reward tricks. AHall v Colby. Sick game. They threw greedy tricks and had fun, and it was incredibly competitive. I would love to see these top skiers getting letters by big lines, not a trick that was clearly called knowing the other skier had no idea how to do it. It's not nearly as fun to watch. This game just showed me AHall was willing to play a little dirty. Idk, the Cups over so I guess we will see how it played out. I have faith most of these riders were out there having a blast and caring about fun, creative and competitive games and not just the W.

You're naive if you think these guys won't throw a trick that they know someone else cant do, its how you win at the game. You can't just play the game and expect your opponent to make a mistake, watching both skiers land the same mellow tricks for 20 mins is not as entertaining as two skiers trying hard tricks, sometimes for the first time and battling it out for 10 mins.
