SLVSH

eh i thought those 180 pretz 270 tricks and bonk pretz tricks by ahall were pretty bogus

I see your reasoning here and the only reason I would think these tricks are bogus are because its so difficult to justify whether or not the trick was done properly. Such sick tricks and obviously very unique trick to a select few skiers but that doesn't constitute it to be bogus. If a person is going for the win they are more than allowed to call any trick they see fit

Alex specified the 180 beforehand so its legit. To me the bogus call was on his butter 2 blind 4 out. Didn't clear the dick at all..

Oh well, it was a great final nevertheless. Grats to everyone.

I didn't really know A Hall was that good when I was making my bracket.

Would be cool if SLVSH had some way to show what % of entries picked who for the winner/finals/etc.

Sick finals in those conditions.

Did anyone got their bracket right? My bracket flopped hard.

I had everything right except I had McEachran making Semis, and ABM losing to Evan in Quarters. Obviously neither of those worked out quite how they should've, although in hindsight I could definitely see Laker beating ABM if that went down.

USA USA USA

just kidding. super impressive stuff from everyone-- narrowly missing tricks is frustrating, i think it says a lot that these dudes have such good attitudes even when losing

great tournament...keep up the good work slvsh

and woodsy is a fuckin awesome ref/host

you don't like new and creative tricks?

naw you're simplifying.

calling such tricks that are pretty exclusive to himself, especially consecutively, to rack up letters is pretty bogus mate

I kind of agree with you, but also kind of don't.

While I was watching I felt the same way you did. But, like Walker or Joss mentioned in this thread, some skiers play for fun and to put an entertaining game together, some play to win. $8,000 Euros on the line, AHall is 17 years old, I think he's playing to win, and I have to respect that.

i agree with both of you. those weren't my favorite tricks of the game or tourney, for sure, and i think sportsmanship is an important part of this game.

but 1) yeah i def didnt have $9000 when i was 17 and i cant blame anyone for playing to win, and 2) they were relatively legit, creative tricks. it's not like he gave out a letter by doing a 450, then did a 630, then an 810 to tighten the screws on his opponent, or some goofy shit that was specially crafted to prey on oystein's weaknesses. that kind of thing i would definitely frown upon

was just thinking about this. I really like how Oystein was getting paired up with other skiers who kept on realllly making him go out of his comfort zone but he still ended up making it to the finals.

woodsy is the martin tyler of slvsh refs. seriously write up a contract for that dood. also when he says a-hall his accent makes it sound like a-hole lol

and holy fuck i thought alex was older than 17

well it's a god damn shame to see skiing become about winning, rather than about having fun.

Winning a game is pretty fun, seeing those tricks was definitely more fun than watching someone try some more regular spinning and switch ups.

I couldn't disagree more.

The thing I've found most entertaining in this recent cup is skiers calling creative or unusual tricks which their opponent has never tried before or isn't comfortable with. So many times this has resulted in the opponent pulling a sick trick out of nowhere, under pressure, and with their own style. That really showcases the insane level of talent and progression these skiers are capable of. And when they make such tricks no-one gives the skier calling the trick any shit - they just talk about what an insane game it was. It's only when they don't stomp it and get a letter that people suddenly start bitching about it and acting like a particular skier is suddenly a bad sport when literally the only difference is whether their opponent stepped up and stomped it or not.

Exactly like this game: Oystein calls underflip on 27 out- a really tech trick which he has dialled and A Hall tries it but fucks up. A Hall likewise calls some tricks he has dialled, and then Oystein fucks up. Then people like you come on here and bitch about A Hall simply because he won. You've basically conned yourself into believing that he's played the game differently to anyone else because you're ignoring what has actually happened.

I don't really get it.

Why does this come up every time a skier calls a trick someone can't do? It's not like Oystein was calling triple corks, AHall was calling creative as fuck shit which was cool. I don't know how you can reason that someone shouldn't call a trick because the other person can't do it. With your logic I should be able to play Wallisch and since I suck at skiing Wallisch shouldn't try anything.

the only shame is to see people like you bitch about people calling tricks their opponent can't do. The point of a slvsh game is to win and that doesn't mean they aren't having any fun doing it.

Kimbo Sessions Slvsh Cup at Klappen anyone?

Not sure if anyone has seen the various photos over social media lately, but it looks like the slvsh crew and a lot of dope skiers (henrik, torin, kim, joona, noah m, woodsy and even jon olsson) are there right now :)

Maybe not a full tourney/cup, but I hope to maybe see some really good games come out of that event with those skiers there.

None of you guys seem to understand the work it takes to make a slvsh cup happen

Can we get a game with Karl now? The closest I've gotten is a troll from Steve.

Everybody messaging is telling us where to do Cups and who to play games with, thank you, you've got some great ideas. We really like that UFC concept from the recap. We are down for 90% of your ideas, but the riders/resorts need to be down too. Please message them as well as us.

Chances are not many resorts even know what Slvsh is, much less have budget available for it, but if they get a ton of messages about it, they'll at least look into it. Cheers

I feel like seven springs would be down. They seem to be trying pretty hard to cash in at the moment.

LOL, Joss and Walker are actually being cool and supportive who are the actual people who run SLVSH. Then you have leaches like yourself who know a few pro skiers and you're being a condescending douche because you know information we don't. Congratulations, betcha that makes you feel super duper cool

Firstly, Evan has a point. The cups, and any event for that matter, take a massive amount of organising. That's not some kind of secret ski industry insider info, it's just common fucking sense. And the bigger the cups get, the more 'official' they will become and the more work they will be.

Secondly, and I really do try not to rise to this stuff, but who the fuck are you calling Evan a leech. He works hard as fuck for very little reward to make this website run how it does, to give other content producers the opportunity to make some money for their work, to help the less well known players of this industry grow. Feel free to disagree with his opinions and his way of putting them across. Hell I definitely don't always agree with what he says. But understand that there are plenty of skiers, producers and other industry folk who would never have had the chances they do in skiing without the work he puts in to NS. He's the complete opposite of a leech.

Edit/disclaimer: He'll also think I'm a fucking idiot for posting this a) because he is one of the few people I've met who genuinely doesn't seem to give a fuck what people think, and b) knows that responding to dumbass internet opinions always makes things worse. C'est la vie.

Then he should enlighten them, instead of being a condescending deuche about it.

I see no problem in people suggesting where, who and how, especially not in this specific thread.

You missed the point. I'm not telling SLVSH to do a cup at Klappen or Breck, or wherever like most of the kids on here are doing. I'm saying that the SLVSH crew was at Kimbo Sessions and I'm sure there were some sick games that happened there for the event that we can look forward to. I don't know if there will be a cup event for that and really don't care...we just have something good to look forward to (I'd hope) after this last cup.

i came in this thread to see the stoke and see nothing but complaining, dam. go smoke a j

after seeing A Hall send that straight air the faction video and now this hes my new favorite. dude kills it

Holy shit, Andreas once again showing that he is the greatest rail skier of all time, even after "retiring". What a legend.

Hell yes, and Slvsh claimed it was filmed in 2 hours!! I can't think of anyone who would be able to accomplish that! Such a boss!

Andreas absolutely killed it! He is definitely more of an old school technical rail skier, so It was funny to see him to be like what's up with all these backslides?

So the Slvsh brackets that people filled out, any idea when we'll find out the results to those? Or who the winners at least?

Mad props to the Slvsh crew for putting on the second Cup and coming out with the recap video which was a great way to wrap it all up.

I hope someone has the time to count up how many tricks he pulled off in that because I don't cause like I'm super important and stuff.
