That was some of the worst judging I have ever seen.

1:32 was nowhere near a butter

2:40 not corked at all

Other questionable calls but those two were just blantantly wrong.

If you guys are really that upset over a game of skate you should probably reevaluate why youre on this site.

I forgot that slvsh games were 100% serious. Y'all are lame.

Any idea when the next game will be posted? It's been depressing not having anything to look forwards to on Tuesdays now that winter is over!

Definitely hoping for one today

Watched the game the other day at Woodward Copper. It was a real good one.

that game was garbage, the judging was so off.

one of mcrae's rail lines he clearly didnt make the whole rail on a 2 on, his 360 onto the side of that jump wasn't even close, 270 at best, and the fact his handplant was even considered was questionable

i know it's doesn't matter, the games are just for fun, but i feel like if you're having pros compete hold them to a higher standard for "landing" tricks

and on that basis sandy took the win

yea that 360 shouldnt have counted. plus i get that he realized he had sandy on some of those rightside jump tricks, but its kinda lame to throw those knowing ahead of time the other person cant match (unless its final letter or whatever). kinda spirit of the game type stuff

Have to disagree with saying you shouldn't throw tricks you know the other person can't do. That's pretty much the basis of a game of skate. You do the tricks you've got that you don't think the other person can do. If you're sessioning jumps or rails with friends trying to learn tricks then you do stuff together. But games of skate (or slvsh in this case) you bring out the daggers. Look at some of the Berrics games. They do some of the basic tricks to work into the game and get comfortable but when it comes time they throw tricks they have that they know the other person probably can't do.

The difference between a new flip trick variation, and an unnatural upside down spinning axis is pretty large. Look at Will vs LJ, LJ could have taken it to jumps and run train on Will, but he didnt because the defeat is inevitable, and a game of Skate is not the right venue to try that shit.

I say try tricks you know the other person probably can't do, but at least is within the realm of trying, railwise, do whatever the fuck you want, the consequences are much smaller.

While editing we seriously thought about giving McRae a letter on that 3 up, 1 down, considering it wouldn't have changed the trajectory of the game. But, either way, McRae still won, just whether it's 5-4 or 5-3.

Right now, in these random matches, we are trying to match similar types of skiers who are in the same ball park and can make a good match. Obviously we don't want anyone too out of their comfort zone, but Sandy landed the SwR5 (just a bit too far to the right) and would've landed the SwR7 except his ski just popped off. Imagine if Sandy kept the set and kept setting very technical rail tricks and McRae was just barely missing. No difference. We thought that was a great match.

With your comment in mind, there are some matchups that would be amazing to see if certain aspects of skiing aren't included (LJ vs Will rails, Khai vs Wallisch rails, etc) and in these fun games, if both players are down, it's fine to just play on certain things.

But, like Saga said, if it's serious and the point is the beat the other person because there is incentive to, then it is still a contest and you should probably do the other things you're opponent can't. In the long run, it incentivizes skiers to become really good at every type of skiing, not just the best at one specific aspect.

This is the best part about games/challenges/whatever you want to call something like SKATE/SLVSH. They make you try stuff you've never thought about before or were nervous to attempt.

This is what I was trying to get at, Khai vs Wallisch if Twall was going for the kill shot would be over as soon as it was his set and he went to a jump line. Thats all I was trying to get at.

Just catching up on a few of these and I wanted to say Woodsy was by far the best ref yet. You should bring him on full-time.
