i'm going off my (award-winning) memory here but i think they were different directions. the one we're talking about here that john opted out of going for after kiernan missed his, that was to the right. and i feel like he started the game with a left dub 12, or soon after the start of the game

EDIT: looks like i was misremembering myself, my b. below someone said he didn't land the first which would explain it
