Anyone know any details? They mentioned it on the radio about 10 mins ago that a large avi broke on saddle.

Keepin my fingers crossed for everyone. Sucks.

Bits and pieces from TGR link

"Saddle Peak. Sounds big.....2nd hand from patrol friend is 8' crown and VERY wide."

"Marc called and said there's a good chance that no one's buried. Apparently the guy that set it off was standing at the top, about to put his skis on, and he fell over and triggered it. Search crew hasn't had any beacon strikes, so it's just a waiting game 'til the end of the day to see if there's anyone unaccounted for."

I heard shorly after it happened that 11 people were missing, I doubt that now after hearing from several sources that as of right now they know of no missing people. Also was told from a first hand account that it was a 5 foot crown but who cares, 5 foot or 8 foot that is one big deadly slide

My buddy conor was the one who tripped it off. He was just standing there not even in his skis when it broke. He dropped like 10 feet and stuck his poles in to keep him from sliding. Scary shit. But fuck everyone on TGR who says slushmans shouldn't be chairlift accessible, there all a bunch of dirty hippies.

eh. i see both sides of it. it gets SO blown out now its ridiculous. and the fact that its chairlift accessible encourages stupidity (not saying your friend is, sounds like the cornice just broke).

but at the same time i can see how people like the lift.

I don't care if other people have easy access to that area, I can just go further out the boundaries now. The thing that bothers me is that no matter how safe I am, someone like your friend can easily kill me with their stupidity. When you had to skin up Slushman's the majority of people knew what they were doing, but now that you can bootpack out to what is probably the most dangerous face in the Bridgers, there is a disconcertingly large number of people that really don't know what they are doing (not carrying gear, going alone, walking out on new cornices, etc).
Slushman's is a kick ass lift and I love it, but it's just too bad there are so many totally clueless rad bros around here getting epic gnar bc runs off it. Hopefully this will be a warning, but I'd be surprised if people aren't skiing next to the slide within the next few days.

The problem with the new lift is that people dont consider the dangers still there, even if its just a bootpack away. 3 inches of water over the weekend and deep slab instablilties? Come on...shouldn't even be considering hitting Saddle. Anyone driving up can see all the fresh slides all the way up the Bridgers. Maybe this will also finally get rid of the idea that lots of tracks= safe. Hopefully everyone can learn from this slide, without anyone getting caught in it.

thats case 60% of the people that ride bridger are fucking idiots that think they know everything but dont know shit!

haha i saw something in the tgr thread commenting how the fresh snow lookers left of the slide will be totally skied out by tomorrow by more clueless morons

Wonder if Slushmans will ski well this weekend?

Just kidding, anyone know when they plan to reopen it?

wow i love the idiot who dropped in, hammered a turn, and then looks like he fell when he left the frame of the shot. Real genius there...
