if its cold out rub snow on it and pour water down it and it will ice ove. just scrape any extra chunks off with your ski.

make sure you dont lean forward, then you'll catch an edge and wipe out.

Just hit is really fast, and make sure the wood isn't soggy...

go over it with a ski edge a couple times, and file/hammer down anything you catch on. as long as it's nice and smooth it'll slide fine. heres a quick vid of my first wood rail a week ago:

i slid a wooden rail least week with no wax. just bring a hammer to pound all the nails in, along with maybe a cizzle to carve out a bump where the boards meet. it just slides really solw, knda like concrete. just be ready for the stick and take some speed at it. also, wooden rails look dope on video because you slide slow and it looks mad steezy.

sharp edges getting caught will flip you and you may hit your skull with your edge as it comes up behind you head and it will bleed until like 11 pm and you can lie to your mom about it and say you slipped. it happened to my friend. just make sure they arent sharp.
