So the pros are waxing before they slide? It doesn't look like most of the stuff is waxed, I think I have heard that some use a bit of snow or a small amount of ice. I may just have to give it a whirl and see what happens.

Pros do wreck their skis there is a segment in strike three where you see the bottom of Derek Finn's skis, I think, and they are wrecked, after grinding cement.

 
find smooth cement, the only ledge I ever hit that had wax on it did not slide well at all.

and no matter what you do to the ledge, your skis will be fucked up

 
im sure they do something to the cement. A few clips in 1242 they have a little snow on it.. (boyd's segment)... Maybe ice, but most likely just lots of wax.. It's not like the pro's just go up to some cememnt 'slab' and just slide it.. They do something to make it a little smoother

Yeah, I've done one ledge and I didn't find that wax did much. Just get a big chunk of crusty snow and spread the little ice chunks over it, like a little here and there. Also, running an old ski or your friend's ski (when he's not looking) over the length of the ledge a bunch of times grinds out a lot of the roughness (at least on the ledge I did). Either that or you can catch an edge and die or stick to metal. Hope that helped.

did that mess the skis up pretty bad? I'm eyein' this ledge but want to know if there's anyway of not screwin the skis.

 
ive seen someone slide a cement slab with no ice, u just gotta slide it but dont let your skis go flat, there just to look cool though, why slide cement when theres tons of handrails?

its not worth it for a few slides, then having to get new skis. thats why you only see pros doing it
