Sleeping in your car

Is it dangerous to sleep in your car overnight if you can't afford a hotel? I'm talking about if there's an actual snow storm and stuff. would i freeze to death or run out of oxygen? also do cops at resorts kick you out of the parking lot if they catch you sleeping in your car?

You should be find, as long as there is no sign saying not too...And as of freezing, get a good sleeping bag, and start your car once in a while..

Last I checked, there's no hotel rooms in tahoe for 60 bucks. if i'm wrong, please correct me and let me know where this is. Plus 60 bucks is a lot.

you should be sweet, if its -30 out you might want to reconsider it unless you got a really good sleeping bag

i pull that stunt all the time...if your planning on it, be prepared with two sleeping bags. then go to the bar, chill out till your ready to sleep, drive to a inconspicuos parking lot, pull over and snooze, youll wake up if you get too cold, just turn the car back on.

i find that condo parking lots are the best, or anything with other cars in it. i tried to sleep next to the k1 gondola at killy and got a rude awakening.

you HAVE to go to the bar, cuz there is a chance of a lonely resort chick taking you home. this is the best scenario...

with a good sleeping bag it's definatly doable, if you can sleep in a tent why you couldn't sleep in a car?

yeh, you can def sleep in your car. whoever made you think that the oxygen would run low is dumb your set as long as you can stay warm

yea, I do it. I have a -20 sleeping bag. throw that in the back of the subie with a down comforter and a couple of pillows and it's nice and cozy. Or find a rich chick with a condo. I like that one better

crack a few windows for ventialation and put the clothes youre planning on wearing the next day inside your sleeping bag.

ya if i found one of those i'm sure i'd get married to her. or at least pretend i loved her during the winter months.

if you rplanning on sleeping in your car, then you wake up in the morning in a big bed with some ski chick, you ski the best you ever had.

i've slept in the back of my truck(covered with a canopy) in a snow storm before. I just have a sweet sleeping bag and some super thick blankets to lay on.

it is cold in a car but is is an adventure for sure, when you are old you can say that you slept in your car to ski at "insert area name here". I say go for it as long as you don't get drunk and pass out in the drivers seat because you can still get a dui if the keys are in the ignition and you are in the drivers seat. so sleep in back and no keys in ignition. enjoy.

it will be uncomfortable as humanly possibe but deffinately do-able you;ll be fine as long as you have a nice warm sleeping bag.

most ski areas are cool unless they are clearing snow...if thet are moving snow around your gonna get kicked out....especially in tahoe

I have camped out all over this country in my truck! Fuck paying "60$" for a hotel room...spend that on lift tickets instead...bring a camp stove and follow the storms

you can get a dui if the keys are anywhere in the car so the safest thing to do if your gonna pass out drunk is to throw your keys under your car.

I've done it before, but not for skiing, just for the Hell of it. A cop drove past me when I was doing my morning routine, stopped, and just kept driving possibly with the thought of, "What the fuck?" going on in his head.

how do you do your morning routine in a car, doesnt that incluse showering and cleaning and all that

i sleep in my van for parties and stuff all the time, just make sure you have all your shit in order like extra clothing and blankets and stuff to keep warm and your all set

All you need is bottled water, a tooth brush, tooth paste, and a tiny bottle of shampoo. With those then you can do your morning routine.

no shit, I though they just had to be out of the ignition?...what good rules we have..even if you don't drive you can get in trouble sweet

yea, just remember to leave the keys in so u can find em easily incase of emergency....im thinking of buying a WV bus for like $5000 so i can do that

dude my friends and I sleep ion the snow with our sleeping bags all the time. If its just you its no problem, but if you sleep in a small car witha a buncha guys crack a window cuz you start to run out of oxygen and it gives you a headache when you wake up, it sucks.

sleeping in cars is about as ski bum as you can get, its a super good time and an awesome story that you'll have for the rest of your life!

remember to lock the car though because some times people will got ot parking lots and steel your skis and shit. you dont need a really big car. just get a used suberu and go with a friend it is one of the best times you will ever have.

yeah dude, if people can sleep in paper thin tents on everst u can survive a night in a car. get a good sleeping bag, where some wool socks and shirt, and crack the passenger side window a crack. it would probably be better to do it with a friend, or atleast a cell phone?

Are you serious, or have you just never been to Tahoe before? There are TONS of sleazy little motels near Stateline that are super cheap. Like, $35 a night cheap, with hottubs. I recommend the Hacienda. Walking distance to the casinos.

make sure to bring lots of blankets or sleeping bags, b/c you cant use the heater at night, you'll create too much carbon monoxide and die. Also leave your windows open a crack to let air and C.M. out, the cops shouldnt give you a hard time, and if they do, leave and go to slepp in the next parking lot over

I have a subaru, and sleeping in one is not comfortable at all. If it was a van or big SUV then you can definitly get an inflatable matress in the back. But not in a subaru; It's just too small.

ther is no chance of running outa oxygen i do it all the time if u get an airmattress and a nice artic sleeping bag it will give u hours of awsome sleep

just make sure you don't leave the car running (carbon monoxide) if there is any chance at all the tailpipe will be blocked off(snow etc)

dont leave the car running weither you have to worry about the tail pipe being blocked or not, you can still breath that shit in to a point where it becomes dangerous. I sleep in the back of my truck all the time, i have a camper shell on it i just blow up a matress and have a really good sleeping bag with lots of extra blankets and I am set.

man i sleep outside when its -40 and windy as hell...sleepin in a car is paradise as long as u got a few things down

-open the window a crack, cuz ur ski stuff starts to really smell like shit after a while

-make sure you got a really warm sleeping bag (or two) and a blanket, and sleep in ur boxers (i prefer no socks) and a hat

-you wanna park somewhere where you wont get bothered

pretty much do what everyone else said in this thread

just bring like 500 blankets / pillows so it's like sleeping on cloud if you don't have a suv / truck w/ topper. i have a buddy who sleeps in the breck public parking lot every weekend. he has it down to a science.

yeah leaving the car running= prolly the worst idea ever i imagine thatd b a big waste of gas or ur battery which would suck. imagine waking up to an empty tank?? cracking the window(s) is a good idea tho need some fresh air in there

make sure not to get a car wash right before and then leave all the windows closed. i did this and almost suffocated.

i actully have a real mattess in the back of my van and if i get wasted at partys and cant find a bed i just go sleep in mmy van.i prolly did that at least 10-15 nights this summer.

Yea i've done it heaps, its all G, especially in spring time when its not even cold (like right now in NZ haha).. The best plan is to hit a bar or party and get real shitfaced first, then you'll just pass out in your sleeping bag and get a real good deep sleep.. Plus skiing with a hangover is exhilirating haha
