Sled Skiing

Coming to Nelson feb 3 to feb 9 and bringing our sleds for some sled skiing. Curious if anyone has any information on areas that have good skiing or would let us join a group for some beer or gas. I know how locals feel about showing others into their pow stashes as I would be careful about showing people mine, however Nelson is a long ways away for us so the likelihood of us raping your area is highly unlikely. We have fairly capable/reliable sleds and are intermediate/advanced sledders.

if you're in nelson, it might be a good idea to head up to sandon/retallack or new denver area for sled skiing. i've heard great things about the duncan lake and trout lake area too.

there's also some cool looking stuff up the logging roads on the north side of castlegar that ive looked at in the summer. i know a few sledders who ride up there in the spring, not sure about winter access though.

I guess it might be a little late, but check out Sitkum Creek - it's just past 6 mile, before Kokanee Creek. I've done some planting work up there and there are some awesome trees and some alpine to play in. Road is a logging road/old mining road that goes up to just shy of 2200M.

Oh, and Russell Creek is an awesome sled skiing zone. Go to Playmore Junction and head up to Passmore. Cross the bridge and the road will eventually turn into the Little Slocan FSR, follow till you reach Russell and head up.(if you cross the bridge you've gone too far). You can take the Airy road up as well which is around 3 or 4km before Russell.

good luck and have fun!

shit i forgot about the north side of the west arm. both sitkum creek and duhamel creeks (9 miles and 6miles up the west arm of kootenay lake from nelson) should have some good stuff at the top. again, only been up there biking in the summer but the logging roads will be perfect for sledding up.

Might be taking my sled with me for the season in revy. How much riding depends on whether I can find a good part time job. Gas aint cheap.
