So i got accepted to Westminster and I am waiting for a reply on Western State College. It is gonna be a hard decision to choose between them( if in fact i do make it into western). I have never been to either states, but i know both of them are sick. and i like both of the schools equally. anyone go to these schools? or know anything about the areas? It would be kick ass to get some other peoples opinions?

+K for good info

Thanks NS

Visit, see which one you like more. Honestly, westminster is a much better school than western state.

Dude im trying to decide the same thing.. just between like colorado, western state or University of Utah

i would say slc, wetminster is a sick good college and that area is a chill place to live. its right next to the freeway which goes to all the wasatch resorts which are all close to you as well, but i would check out both of them to see what you like the best.

i would prefer utah, thats just me though. in utah its like 15-30 minutes to any of the resorts there and they are all fucking awesome. in colorado everything is extremely far away from everything else and traffic is constantly insane. unless you live right in summit county, (which im pretty sure no one actually does, especially if you are in school) its at least a two hour drive, if not more, to any mountains.

meh not really true. During the busy months if you drive at peak times you will hit traffic and it sucks, but if you know someone who lives up there or can leave early or later you will be fine.

He is asking about Western though and there is never any traffic there. My brother goes there and loves it. Academically it is not a very good school and Gunnison is generally the coldest place in the state. However Crested Butte is 20 min away and is incredible.

I don't know anything about the Utah schools. My parents lived there for a while and said the skiing was awesome but the Mormons ruined the rest of their experience. They didn't want to raise kids there so they moved before I was born.

The fact that you are worried about getting into Western makes me think you were not the best student, so find a program that you think you can succeed in.

I grew up in Colorado and haven't gone to either of the schools but some of my close friends have. I have also been to Utah numerous times (skiing etc.)
Colorado:As someone said before Gunnison about 20F cooler than the rest of the state. It's also known as "wasted state" (def. not the strongest school in CO)Crested Butte is about 30 minutes away and has some sick skiingyou won't have to deal with the crazy 1-70 traffic (unless you go to those resorts further north)some girls
Utah:My friend felt like he got a good education at WestminsterAnother friend dropped out because he was started to ski so muchU of U has a very strong biology and engineering program plus a good business schoolThey both said that there were Mormons, but their influence wasn't as strong as they though it would be. (there are 'cool' mormons too)People are down to skiBrighton, Solitude, Alta/Bird all about 30 minutes (better than Crested Butte, my opinion). Park City is also not a far drive. Plus many other resorts in close proximity.more girls
So this is what I have been told. Don't be like me and choose to go to school in NY.
As for jobs afterwards, It's all about connections. Do something in school to set yourself apart.Utah gets way more snow than CO.
You'll have fun no matter what you decide. Good Luck!

Ive never been to colorado but Westminister is down the road from where I stay in SLC.

I love this area. Park City is about 27 miles from West Minister and its a 4 lane highway pretty much the whole way to it. There is a good amount of stuff to do in salt lake. lots of events, concerts, ect.

at westminister you will be 30 minutes from all of utahs best resorts except powder mtn and snowbasin but whatever noone gets passes there...in co you are far away from everything and it wnt be as fun...i know tons of ppl that go to school in co and regret it

I go to westminster, in class right now actually, and it is pretty sick. You can arrange to have all your classes on monday and wednesday or tuesday and thursday. Park city is half an hour drive, always sick. The school is pretty cool too.

Figure out what qualities are important to you in a school, then go visit. I go to the U of U, which is only a few minutes from Westminster. The skiing is amazing and I like the area. There are always kids who are down to ski or go hike/climb/etc in the summer. The mormons definitely have an influence over the city, however it's not like you'll automatically have to become super religious if you live here. The dorms at both the U and Westminster are nice (from what I've seen, anyway, as I've only been an a handful of the Westminster dorms).

I got into western without even giving them my SAT scores haha

but ya colorado just seems like such a relaxed place.

but ya i mean i am going to check them out but i am fuckin torn between the two

i am going for environmental studies and want to be in a solid place for that.

which has better BC sking?

thanks a bunch guys you have been a great helping hand

Last time I was in Gunnison the gas pumps had a sign saying "Western State students only drink about half as much as people say they do." Sounds like a legit college to me but ehhh

westminster rarely has friday classes and its dorms are fairly nice, especially if u live in the apartments only thing that sucks is 3.2beer but u can go to the liquor store and get 5%

new law: if u get a underage drinking ticket the minimum punishment they can give u is a suspenion of your license for a year which is totally retarded

Thanks for the kind words.

but ya i dont want to be around dickheads all year either.

i mean i dont want to get shit for being some vermont hippy you know. I would imagine everyone is just there to have a good time and ski an shit so thats what i want to do.

is the snow really that much better in utah?

+K'ed everyone
