When I read the title I thought Slandis was being sponsored by Oakley?
 
wait, landis tanakakakka? he isnt even that good, i mean last i knew he broke his collar bone trying to 270 off a box or something.
 
hahaha yeah. hes the kid who made a promo full of him claiming in voiceovers and not doing good tricks. basically he sucks.

Ya slandis just sounds like a really chill guy, I want to meet him sometime. Even online you can tell his character. His edits are also sick too, I've seen all of them and can't wait for more

further proof that the ski industry is fucked... what is going to be next? giving girls a sponsorhip? wack. because you are the only eskimo in alaska to hit rails and the fact that your entire life is on the internet does not make you a good skier. let alone should not lead anyone to believe you are worthy of a sponsorship. its the end of the world. 2012 came early.
 
ok to get this out of the way im not hatting on landis at all in this post. i respect what he does by skiing very well, being an amazing camera man and being able to make some of my favorite edits of all time ive seen on NS. but i dont this he is good enough to be on a team (even if it isnt the pro team) with the likes of the top pros in the industry. i could see how tramdock picked him up and was a little suprissed by surface. IMHO there are many other skiers that could and should be hooked up before him. but my opinion wont matter to oakley so congrats slandis on getting picked up by the biggest name in the industry thats really sick
 
Do you all know what you're saying?

First of all, sponsorships are a way for a company to ADVERTISE their products. They obviously see that Landis can promote their products in a way that VIEWERS (yes that means you NS) can see them easily. If you haven't noticed, Landis is able to produce videos that create a large amount of attraction.

His skiing may not be as amazing as other sponsored riders, but his videos make top rated without a doubt every time. And why does that happen? Because he makes videos that people WANT to watch. And when you create something that people are looking at, that is a reason to sponsor someone. Oakley, surface and tramdock are BENEFITING off his ability to amuse all of you.

And don't say he isn't a talented rider, his lives in AK and kills it in the BC. It makes you all sound like childish dumbasses when you complain that he's sponsered and you aren't. And don't complain about his promo, its not made to impress you, its made to impress the ones who are currently sponsoring him.

And I know he hasn't posted a video in a while and Neon has been delayed, but people are still talking about him.
 
is he sponsored for his skiing or for his filming?
like I'm thinking he could be sponsored for his filming as in able to put "Oakley" before the edit and they pay him the ad fee?

too bad he was spot on and you are making yourself look like a fool. landis is not only an amazing skier but also a extremely talented filmer/editor/musician. he can do everything. hes a very unique individual and stands out, so why not have someone who stands out promote your product?
 
Are you joking? The last thing the industry needs is another kid doing sw 14's and pretzels off of every rail they see. I'm so sick of seeing the same type of shit over and over again. Everyone is so hyped on how many spins you can do or what the next double flip is. I mean sure its cool but everyone and their grandma is doing it.

Landis brings an original view and style to skiing, and everything else he does. So how bout you go back to watching your cliché "hood" edits and keep folowing the herd.

As for me I'm stoked to see biger sponsors moving away from the norm and picking up kids who can actually think for themselfs and bring something new to the table.
 
youre right... what we all need to see is someone that does ugly ass 360s off small jumps into a little bit of pow. just like we saw 15 years ago. he plays guitar and paints though... lets fuckin' sponsor him.
 
nope sorry bud but ecinvasion was right. Sponsorship is about advertising getting their product seen by someone who is talented and able to promote it, and landis fits both of those categories.

And yeah he is fucking talented with music and art.... As I recall Pollard is a damn good artist as well. So keep on hating, because Landis kills it and is gonna blow up just wait and see.

yeah...no offense to slandis...but that kid just shouldn't be sponsered at such a level that he is. if i was at his skiing level, i would respectfully decline such relationships with these companies. its good that he can make dope edits...but there are a lot of kids out there that make dope edits, and even more that slay a lot harder than he.
 
I seriously doubt that you would turn them down when the rep with the contract is sitting with you, pen in your hand.

But there aren't that many people that are all-around better than him. Maybe in the park, maybe in the BC, but not in both. He is a great kid to use for advertising, too. sponsorship isn't about how well you can ski although it helps. marketability is all that matters.

Way to miss the fucking point. Pollard brings something different to the industry with his art and the way he vies skiing. All I'm saying is that Landis has an awesome view on skiing and has something different to offer than just another kid spinning like a top and thinking he is gangsta as fuck.

So hate all you want but Oakley sees something in Landis that they think is worthy of sponsoring. And that should be good enough for you.

Excuse me for supporting my friends and the industry in my area. As for me beeing the "bandwagoner" I rep surface because they bring a different view to the skiing industry, and Mike is one of the most legit people I fucking know.

So how bout you take your hate somewhere else, go fall back in line because you still look like a sheep to me.
