Skydiving license or motorcycle

I'm gonna have some extra cash towards the end of the summer and either wanna get my skydiving license or a motorcycle. What do you all think?
 
Ladies can see you riding a motorcycle. They can't see you skydiving unless their adrenaline junkies themselves.

well both are excellent ways to kill yourself, I'd go with what is more fun for you...I'd go with skydiving, I've always wanted to do that
 
Insurance costs + Bike costs are going to be outrageous. My friends be riding for like 4 years she's a girl and has her M and the insurance is like 10000$ a year. for a 600cbr

uhh.....not to call you out....but i want to say you have no clue what you're talking about.

I'm 23, male obviously, and i have a GSXR 600. just started riding last year. insurance was $250 for liability only. if i wanted comprehensive, it still would have been less than 1,000/year.

 
Skydiving license. I'm working to get mine this summer and I'm stoked.

Keep in mind though that once you graduate from AFF coached jumps to your Cat A license, it will be more difficult to use student rigs and you'll eventually need to get your own rig, which can run you a couple grand.

A lot of people have motorcycles. Not many people get to have a skydiving license. And after you've been skydiving for a while, you can start doing BASE. Oh and by the way, only 200 jumps are required to fly a wingsuit... just saying.

MOTIVATION:

Those people are more alive than 99% of the population. That, my friend, is a lifestyle I would not mind living.

Get a real bike.

That being said, how much money is it. Don't get a shitty bike. Definitely do not get a shitty bike. I've got a Harley Sportster 883 and absolutely love cruising on it. Such a fun bike. Plus, you can get a cheapish one for 2500-4000.
 
what's with all the "motorcycle insurance is expensive" posts?

my bike costs 96 a year for liability.

my car costs 800 a year for liability.

motorcycle insurance is cheap as fuck compared to car insurance.
 
i live in upstate NY... idk if that means anything ha. northeast FTW? nope. also, im pretty sure my mom may disown me if i bring a bike home (im 21) but im considering taking the risk.
 
I'm not trying to act like I do, I was just trying to help him out. Like I said my friend has been riding for 4 years and that's the bike she has and that's the number she told my buddy when he was considering a bike. Plus, you're from the states, look a couple comments up from this one. Either way motorcycles are more expensive.
 
Ha, I recently had the same decision... except it was between getting certified as a paraglider or buying a dirtbike. I bought a bike.
 
I've been pondering the same question actually, way I look at it is the motorcycle is a higher start up cost but after less maintain cost. Skydiving will cost you every time you go so that will rack up.
I'd go with sport bike. seems cheaper in the end and is def something you want to get into young.
 
agreed. you can get decent motorcycles insurance.

specially if you have a good record, and not a crazy sports bike.

Anyway, OP, get a bike. Sport bike, cruiser, chopper, whatever the hell suits your fancy. They're a hell of a lot of fun and you can ride them any time the weather is nice and you have gas. Keep in mind that if you get a bike you'll have to look at insurance, as well as buy things like a helmet and leathers, which can get pricey if you want good stuff.
 
Should've stuck with gliding. IMO it opens up the doors to WAAY cooler opportunities. My brother has been flying for 3 years and has had, hands down, the greatest experiences in his life because of it. Been all over the US and Mexico just fly. Granted we live in one of the top flying spots in the world, we also have bikes and some of the best riding, but never ride.
 
I went with the right choice for me. Don't regret a thing. It doesn't mean I'll never be able to glide, I can always do that down the road.

Any person can buy a motorcycle, but the feeling to be flying is something else. Get your skydiving license.
 
If you make that dirtbiker standing it would look completely different... I don't think I need to illustrate.

Please please please do not repeat the idea that only 200 jumps are required to wingsuit. There is no requirement to fly a wingsuit and everybody is different. Base isn't for everyone, there are many more complications than skydiving.

With that said, some people are naturally and practiced athletes. The wingsuit transition time will therefore be shorter for them. Some people need a lot more practice than that. It's a lot harder than it looks and you need a LOT of knowledge about weather. You will be hard pressed for someone to even sell you a wingsuit if you don't have proof of good tracking and body position in base.

With that said, go for the skydiving license.
 
Bike. There's some sick roads up by you. Adirondaks and Vermont are great for riding in the off season. Plus you can commute with a bike to save you $$s in gas. 50MPG ftw.
