It's just a small little thing but that could have caused damage. Skip to 0:25

Meteor Bert: Well, it ain't a meteor.

Joe Dirt: Yeah, it is. It came out of the sky.

Meteor Bert: Well I'm sure it did but it ain't no meteor. It's a big ol' frozen chunk o' shit.

Joe Dirt: What?

Meteor Bert: Oh yeah, see them airplanes they dump their toilets 36,000 feet. The stuff freezes and falls to earth. We call 'em Boeing bombs.

[chomps teeth]

Joe Dirt: No, that can't be. That's not what it is.

Meteor Bert: Oh, afraid so. See that peanut? Dead giveaway.

Joe Dirt: Uhhh, no, that's a space peanut.

Meteor Bert: No, afraid not. That just a big ol' frozen chunk of poopy.

If that was the case it wouldn't have been falling faster then him. It would be falling at the same speed and wouldnt pass him.

so when a parachute opens what is it supposed to do? oh thats right keep falling the same speed you were going

that's a pretty damn big piece of gravel to accidentally pack in your shoot. more like it's from the airplane he jumped out of.

it also can't be a meteor though. The average meteor is travelling at 17 km/s and he caught it in 4 or 5 frames of his camera. If it travelled ~10 feet over the distance in the video his camera would have to be taking about 28000 frames a second.

At the ~30 fps the camera probably was shooting, that would mean it was travelling in the area of 60ish m/s. or 0.06 km/s. ~280 times slower than a meteor would be moving.

myth busted.

your mum's a space rock from outer space. ooohhhhh!!! buuuuurrrnn!!!! need some aloe vera for that burn? yeah, thought so.

Even that low in the atmosphere, I have a hard time believing it would have slowed down enough to capture on a GoPro for several frames.

im pretty sure the articles about it have said that the experts have confirmed that it was definitely a meteorite you tards

try reading, it's really helpful sometimes

18 hours after what? the articles came out at the same time as the video. but let's not read the articles, let's just have a socratic discussion about it with the esteemed scientists of NS, that is how we'll uncover the truth!

yeah no, even if the physics were possible this isn't some super improbable event. Tons of these hit the earth daily, in my home of Arizona you can go out with a metal detector and find at least 10 meteorites a day.Houses and cars get hit and damaged all the time, so while it was cool to see it on video this wasn't some earth shattering anomaly.

A rookie parachutist who jumped out of the plane after GoPro guy, shit himself. The intense stress caused the poop to spontaneously fossilize. The fossilized turd rolled down the leg of his suit, and fell out when he pulled his rip chord. Not meteorite but coprolite.
