Skullcandy's

i need some advice on fixing skullcandy's i know they are shitty, cheap, and generally not worth it, but the pair i have is fucking sick, and i wont be able to get a new pair like them ever. plus they are the only pair of on-ears i own and i hate riding with anything else.

the problem with mine is that the jack where it plugs into my ipod is either bent or worn down or something to the point where it doesnt contact the inside of my ipod and the sound only comes out of the right speaker. ive checked the wiring and its all fine, and the sound works on both sides if i wiggle the jack a little bit.

is there any where i can fix that little headphone jack so it will make the sound come out of both speakers?

++k for help, i searchbarred a few things but nothing really came up, but sorry anyways if this is a repost.

ig uess you could buy another pair, cut the cords, and sauder the headphones to the new cord and cover tht with electrical tape

This should work. You don't even need to soder the wires together. Just get a shitty pair of headphones, cut the cord, cut your skullcandy's cords, and then strip the wires so that about an inch is exposed of both left and right wires. Match R to R, L to L, and then splice them together (basically twist the strands of wire together to make solid contact), and then wrap with electrical tape.

solder would make it last and not pull apart. Its mad easy and worth the effort. Also if you can get some black shrink wrap tubes it would be alot better than electrical tape... but all wal-mart etc usually has are multi colored.

shit, i guess ill just try this. i didnt want to have to take them apart but theyre already broken right?

i have this pair BTW. and +k to all, if anyone else has a suggestion let me know.

Are you talking about insulated wire connectors? Like the tubes where you put one end into each side and then crimp it? They would probably work if they had a really conductive metal on the inside like gold or something... I think audio wires need to be treated differently than just power wires but I'm no expert.

shrink wrap is a material you slip over wires and then heat. it shrinks and tightens over the wire, covering the gap from where you stripped the insulation prior to stripping the wire. what your talking about is just a crimp connector. they usually kinda suck.

yeah I didn't think you were talking about the connectors... I know they suck from experience haha. My grandpa was an electrician and so I've done a few wiring projects with him and my dad. I don't know much but I've got a basic understanding of how to wire stuff

that happened to one of mine there just headphones caps come off and you can paint the rest if its a big deal

I have the same problem. Matches your description perfectly except that its my ipods fault. It ahppens whenever I plug any headphones in my ipod touch that the sound only comes in the right ear until i wiggle it a little bit. and my headsets work fine on other ipods. You should check that this is not the case.

this, ive done it, just dont get a spliter with the wires, they fuckin hurt and can impact into the bone, its a bitch to pull out, happen to me with christmas light wires, same thing, but id do what this guy said
