SKIS - Wood or fiber glass

Wood core all the way. It's stiffer, more pop and reaction, and lasts waaaay longer.

Fiber glass is butter after 10 days of regular use, they are just toy skis. Forgiving at first though but sloooww.

true i prefer wood core skies but like you said salomon has some good reliable foam/fiber glass skis that kill it in the park.

every wood core ski that i can think of has fiber glass in it. i think you meant wood or foam core???? and this should be in gear talk..

A ski made out of nothing but fiberglass and resin would be extremely brittle and have no life (pop, rebound, camber, etc..)

oy, my friend, i think you're going to have to be a little more specific with your questions. everything LMP said is true, and it would weigh a ton as well. epoxy is heavy, and leaving dry fiberglass anywhere in a ski significantly reduces it's strength once it's made. foam skis are best from day 1, but wood skis have consistancy and durability after a comparable 10 days.

someone above said wood skis are stiffer. true sometimes... realize that there are hundreds of species of wood used to make various skis, and all have different properties and densities. also, how the skis is made makes a big difference... for example, the k2 PE and fujatives use the exact same species of wood, but the fujatives are a much softer ski simply because the core is a bit thinner (and some other minor factors.) there's LOTS of variables that can make a ski good or bad, so don't make the mistake of attributing a pre-determined opinion of wood v. foam to determine whether a ski is good or not.

It's heavier, but necessary for durability and such things.

You won't find a ski with just a fiberglass core. Wouldn't really work.

oh shit srry guess i had no clue i put fiber glass core, what the fuck was i thinking. i ment foam core skis. srry guys my bad.
