I personatlly think that they are all rip offs. one ski company should really roll back the prices of new skis. they would make alot more then the other companys. I mean how much could it cost to actally make a ski

So I told him if you say that again im gonna stick this bowl of gucamole up your ass.

Long story short, that is the worst bowl of gucamole iv'e ever tasted

after biking for one year, i think skis are an awesome deal. You can usually get one year old top of the line twins for around $300 canadian. And thats without hook ups.

yea but for biking it easier to see why its expensive, with skis or ski shit what makes it cost so much. teneghty boots are 10 insoles with plastic and metal. They pant one of the clips oranange and charge you 100 bucks more

It takes time to press a ski, that's the issue. They can't make as many ina day as you might think, so they have to be more expensive. Besides, for performance sports equipment, it's not the most expensive stuff you'll find. If you're really having issues, go get some Fujatives, or buy some 2003 model scratch FS or BC. They're exactly the same ski as the new ones, with different graphics, and you should be able to get them for a lot cheaper.

Its all about end of season sales, or just knowing when your local shops are having good deals. I always manage to get my gear 50% off. Skiing is not a cheap sport, but its worth it.

^yeah

you are an idiot if you pay even 75% of retail price for skis. I payed 55% for mine and 50 for my boots

Some of you are stupid skis aren't only expensive because of materials. You're also paying for R and D, advertising, peoples salaries, etc. It's the stores that mark up skis that make a killing. I worked in one and they sell skis usually for twice as much as they paid for them. Everyone has to make a profit so thats that.

Right now would be a good time to buy skis. I got a brand new pair of TMs for 200$ a few weeks ago. Also, not even in just shops, check around here and ebay because I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of people trying to get rid of their skis from this season to get a little change for skis next year.

They are farily cheap, baseball bats, glove and that kinda stuff can easly cost 300. Hockey shit can cost a ton of money, skiing is about advrage at cost over all.

All of the new K2's this year have been really good deals the new fujas's were like 275 and the PE's were like 350

Its winter, the birds have all flown south, all but one. One little bird that waited too long. As it flew to catch it's buddies it got icicles on its wings and fell to the ground. The bird then saw a nice looking branch at the top of a nearby tree and it said to a nearby cow, 'I want to reach that top branch but I don’t have then energy to fly up, can you help?' The cow said, 'Here, eat some of my poop it'll fuel you to climb up the tree.' The little bird said, 'Thanks!' and had some of the cow poop. The bird flew up to the first branch of the tree and rested, then the next day flew to the next branch, until finally the bird reached the top branch. Then the farmer came out with a shotgun...

The moral of the story is, bullshit may get you to the top, but it wont keep you there.

i think that they realize that ppl will still buy the ski, if they are expensive, twin tips are really expensive and the sales have been SHOOTING up becuz everyone wants a pair, think every year more and more ppl are craving twin tips, so the company's jack the prices and ppl are willing to pay it

if you look around on ebay there some pretty good deals. I got a pair of skogens for $160 bucks and Si912 bindings for $150. I just checked right now and there are a couple of pretty good priced scratches.

Jibarito

There are some armadas (Ar5) mounted with Salomon 914s on there for 325 buy it now price. Look like they're in good shape, he says they've never touched a rail. Good deal for good skis and high-end bindings.

shops dont make as much on skis as you think... some skis turn as little as $100 profit margin. and if you really want stuff cheap, get involved in the induustry somehow, work at a shop, be a lifty, work in the cafeteria and get to know the mountain reps, its all about knowing the right people

i just steal stuff... i got my 1080 boots yester day 200

i got enemies last year, for 120, then they broke so i got pubs on warantee for free, and i got saloman s912s for em for 150 on sale at my local shop. pretty sweet deal huh?

for all the peeps sayin ski stuff is expsive i got a lil story here: i got a pair of 1080 boots with a pro deal, which is 25% off cost, which makes cost about 265, then they retail for 450 thats not a bad mark up and that mark up is what your local ski shop puts on them, (this is all cad)so its not too bad

i agree skis are waaaay to expensive. Thats why i will probably never buy armadas, 4 fronts, or salomons. Its cool though cause I will just get rossi line or dynastar. I mean 550 for a pair of skis in insane to me. The most ive ever paid for a pair is 190 ! hahaha

heres my 2 cents on the issue, and i am sure people who know whats going on will agree.

skis are only around $300-400 because of companies moving their operations to places like China (K2), which in turn hurts an industry that so many of you are so obsessed with anyways. Why not pay the $500 for a pair of skis that have so much more technology than they did 10 years ago, and some are even made here in the states or canada? why not support up and coming companies like armada or 4frnt? it just hurts the industry as a whole when companies cut jobs over here to make skis over in another country where cheap labor is ok. And yes i am talking to all the kids who are obsessed with companies stickers, but have yet to support the company as a whole.

but in my opinion i fully support people getting proform or shopping sales, i am a broke college student, but skiing is so much a part of my life that i cant help but not support ski companies.

yeah and most of the time you are paying for the brand. like if some no name company came out of no where and they had skis just as good as armada or line or whatever ski company you like, they couldnt charge nearly as much as that bigger brand could, because no one would buy them. which sucks...

line is selling this years demos for $150 used 10-15 times
