Hi this is my first thread and I won't lie I have no idea what I'm doing. maybe I'll look that up later. anyways, here goes. Oh, BTW YOU CAN SKIP HALF OF THIS CRAP.

(NOT IMPORTANT STUFF :))Hey yall. So I'm from Minnesota-now before you start thinking, this kid doesn't need skis; all they have is hills... i would just like to say i totally agree with you. Midwest skiing is depressing, but I spend half my time on trips to the rockies, hitting up pow in the woods and real snow, and half my skiing out on the local hills messing around with my friends, where the snow's as hard as rock and the only thing taken seriously is the park. having the ability to slide on your back down an entire sheet of ice can be fun though... Depends on how bored you are..

(IMPORTANT STUFF) I'd say I'm a level II skiier, maybe a little bit higher. I weigh around 210(don't worry its all muscle), 6'. I'm looking especially for a pair of twin tips that do well everywhere.... which makes me mad to say cuz i know it'll just be mediocre probably. I want to be able to enjoy the powder out in the Rockies, while still being able to hold on my local hills in MInnesota. I'm not all that skilled in the park, but i still go occasionally, so whether it's built for that or not doesn't really matter; i probably wouldn't notice. The skis I've been looking at are the Atomic Theory skis( 95 waist width;all mountain, but slightly wide.) THey seem nearly perfect for me, but I'm worried that maybe they'd be too wide for the crud out here. THey don't need to be great; the planks of wood i ride right now would be dwarfed in comparison, but if im spenDing 500-600 on these... wouldn't want them to suck for half the season. So if anyone has more experience with these and could confirm my hopes or fears, or if anyone knows of a similar ski that'd suit me better, that'd be great.

Well thanks for reading this unnecessarily long thread and any advice.

On3p jeronimo, line chronic, line sir. Francis bacon, armada ARV, solomon scimitar, and k2 Kung fujas are all good options as well....and I ski in south Dakota, I would not be worried at all with a 96 waist.

The Rossignol Storms would be perfect or you. Reasonably priced and a 92mm waist. Would be a perfect cross between your local hill and out west

ON3P Jeronimo 186. The three sizes are 132/101/125 Rockerd. Effecteive edge 157.

Would be a good quiver killer.

Another to check out Would Be Line SFB in 184. 140/108/136 For a guy your size it would be hard to ski that cause it's rockerd.

186 ON3P Jeffrey. Period.

I got last years for my one ski quiver and I also live in MN but make frequent trips out west. I'm an advanced-expert skier, 6' 4" and 210 lbs. They are 138/108/130, but are just fine in MN. I skied them at Lutsen and Spirit last year and they ripped the groomers. Seriously, so easy to carve on. Easier than my last skis which were 104 in the waist. Super fun on jumps too. I don't do rails so not sure about that.

I also skied them at Mt. Bohemia, all over Summit County, Wolf Creek, and Whistler. They handled every thing I could throw at them in all conditions except pure ice. Trees, powder, steeps, bumps, you name it. I absolutely love these things.

DO NOT go under 100 mm waist in a pair of skis, you'll be so disappointed when you go out west. Sacrifice a little back home for mountain performance. It's way more important for your skis to perform when you spend a lot of money to travel out west. Skiing here in MN is just biding time anyway, who cares if they aren't perfect here. And honestly, the Jeffrey's ARE amazing here.

Only thing about the Jeffrey's at my size, with a progressive mount, is that I did have to worry about tip dive a little in the REALLY deep stuff. I'll be picking up some 191 Billy Goats for my go to powder ski this year. Screw it, I'll just travel with 2 pairs of skis.

I have Atomic Blogs. They are perfect for everything it seems like. they are 110 underfoot which is pretty wide for an everyday east coast ski but its works great for everythign from groomers to pow outwest. i've had 2 pairs and loved them
