so i just bought 2012 line chronics, and was wondering if they come prewaxed or do i need to get them waxed at my shop?

+K for help

Thanks

you definitely want to get them waxed. even if they already were, you want to have a few coats on a new pair of skis to protect the base.

look into doing it yourself. its really easy, and an iron and wax costs only a bit more than a wax in a shop, and you can do it multiple times

They have wax on them, its like a shipping wax its not for skiing. You also need to at least detune the tip and tail. Sounds like a new ski tune is in order its pretty cheap most places.

What he said, definitely do it yourself. Even if you don't have the vices, you can still pick up an iron at a goodwill or somewhere for a couple bucks and make it work. Wax, brushes, and a scarper you can pick up at just about any ski shop for relatively cheap.

I really like waxing my skis, I find it relaxing. It's easy and you should definitely do it yourself.

ski tuning can be done yourself. Most local shops do free ski tuning clinics for people like yourslef getting into the world of tuning. if your shop does not have these programs, there are some great guides on ns in the "ski and binding maintenence" thread. Lots of videos how to prep skis for their first day on the hill, hot waxing and edge sharpening.

They put enough wax on the skis just to keep the bases in good shape.

I wax and tune al my own stuff, I also wax my friends skis for like $5 and make a little money off it.

I actually enjoy waxing my own skis, it is chill and hardly feels like work, and you get a sense of accomplishment from doing it.

I always waxed my buddies skis for less than that, either nothing or my estimated price of the wax I used on them. No need to ring up your buddies for a profit.

well by doing it for 5 bucks at my place (i don't even do this, just saying) they'd still be saving 30 dollars as opposed to getting them done at the shop. in no way would he or I be "ringing them up"

5 bucks is dirt cheap for a hot wax
