Skis for tall guys?

I am in need of some new skis. I really love the fatter / freestyle / big mountain skis like:

Moment Deathwish

Armada ARV 106

4FRNT Devastator

Rossignol Black Ops

1000 All Mountains

You get the idea. Problem is, nobody seems to make this kind of ski in a very large size. Very few companies seem to go above 192, or every once in a while a 194. I am approximately 199cm tall, I have been skiing 194s Moment Belafonte's (a very hard, gnarly ski) for a couple years but they're starting to feel really small.

Anyone have any ideas where I might find something like these in a 196-205ish range?

Old candide 3.0's use to have a 204. May be like finding a unicorn tho. But realistically you're gonna be relegated to most manufacturers offerings in the high 180's

K2 measures true to length and has a mindbender in 193 I believe.

alex hall is like 8 feet tall so maybe check out factions?

Pretty much all pro skiers have custom skis. Industry (not so) secret. The skis they use are usually a little more gnarly and sometimes not even remotely the same. The Candide's on sale were not actually the skis Candide was skiing. As for a hall, pretty sure he skis kinda short skis. Valid for park, but a little tricky for big mountain.

I think you need to regard the effective edge and stiffness as much as the length. ON3Ps are very burly but many have a lot of rocker making it ski shorter effectively. Same with moments, except they generally aren't as stiff as ON3Ps.

Some contenders:

-Moment commander 108 194cm (moment's stiffest ski with the longest effective edge)

-ON3P wrenegade (189?)

-Possibly Volkl mantras, Nordica enforcers, fischer ranger Ti. Not my type of ski but they are quite stiff and have a longer effective edge than freestyle skis. Also they are easy enough to pick up as a demo.

Was going to suggest the Commander 194 if OP is looking for a powerful ski. I have Deathwishes in 190 and commander 108s in 188 and the commanders ski a lot longer due to the effective edge/rocker difference.

Finding skis sucks. As a fellow tall person im constantly browsing ksl and facebook marketplace looking for long skis. Other then customs the only new skis i would consider are the on3p woodsman in a 192, or praxis makes a couple 194s. As far as the skis i ride, my favorite are 4frnt devastators, good luck finding a pair of 194s though because i will snatch them up before you.

The 194 belafontes I have are essentially a gnarlier version of the commanders from about 5 years ago with a little bit of tail rocker. And they feel quite small unfortunately.

I agree with the notion that stiffness and effective edge are just as important as overall length. But, I mount my skis a little closer to center than most, so the psychology of not seeing much ski in front of me is kinda scary. That's why overall length is probably the most important factor to me.

And he was on CT2.0s with Prodigy graphics, as that was the line faction wanted attention

I've got some reckoner 112s in 191cm, measure about 194cm. They are the brain dead cold graphic, brand new.

I'm not sure where you ski, but if you ski Tahoe, I'd hit up moment's factory in sparks, I think their demo program is back up, try the new commanders mounted at recommended... it might just work out for you. And it's free. No way to tell the commander is "less burly" without skiing them. I'd imagine they are quite burly, and probably will have more ski in front of you vs your belafontes.

Otherwise, not sure where you ski, but Palisades has a wide selection of demo skis. If they have anything above 190, might be good to check out some more directional skis to have more ski in front of you. I think you'd be surprised how 'freestyle' (ie short) moments feel compared to other skis. And if you get it at the resort, you could save some money by trying out multiple skis in the same day. Otherwise, whatever is local to you, probably any shop with a decent demo selection will have volkls/ blizzards/ nordicas/ fischers which are all generally very stiff and directional. I think it's worthwhile trying out at least a few of those just given what you are looking for in a ski. Might be difficult to find multiple skis in 190+ length though. I'd call ahead. But, good luck man!

I know the moment guys pretty well, only ski'd moments for years. They do feel quite freestyle heavy. I agree some demo places might be good.

Problem is I'm about 200cm tall, and it's just a bit of a trick to ride skis that are 10cm shorter than me.

Appreciate the suggestions boss!

We have a running list of people interested in a one-off production run 196cm Jeffrey 108/110 build (would be 199cm in most other brands). Still need about...15 to make the numbers work. So if anyone is interesting in that, shoot us an email and we'll tag your contact. Considering trying to work it in this spring. Probably preorder only with choice of top - with additional custom options a la carte.

Better pics? I can zoom in and read the tiny print on my phone. If you wait until after Xmas I can get some pics. Or you can give Google a try.
