skis for next season

ok so I need help here!

I'm a girl, 5'5, like to ski powder and groomed, some park, no rails though. just getting out of racing and looking for some all mtn kind of skis. I'm a strong skier, beginner in the park though. I can do backcountry booters and small cliffs. any ideas on what skis i should be looking at? so far i've only ever had race skis.

I like stiff skis because thats what I've always had, and they have to be able to hold an edge on ice.

thanks!

Hmmmmm... MSPs sound like a plan. Stiff, stable, good for pow and park. Can't go wrong.

^agreed^ my mike nicks hold an edge much better than i wouldn't thought, but i've never ridden another twin-tip so I don't have anything compare to. The Atomic Tweaks are supposed to be really stiff for a twin-tip, so you should check those out.

FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT TO SKANK!

Emo kids don't cry because they're sad all the time, they cry because they have to listen to that horrible music all the time. I'd cry if i had to listen to that whiny music over and over and over....wouldn't you?

(I'm in a band, go to purevolume.com and check out East Coast Skank. Our recording sucks, but bear with it...)

^Tweaks do hold a good edge on ice, but they would perform sub-par for her powder exploits, only a 78mm base underfoot. They are a good ride, but might be a little too 'on-piste' for her likings.

And to whoever said PR's up there, I would have to disagree with you, they are literally the worst ice/hardpack gripping ski I have ever ridden. They are very soft, and not intended for the East Coast.

I actually ski on the west coast. whistler whenever i can get home, mostly louise and sunshine though. and i heard all lines are super soft. is that true?

what lenght u looking at? im guessing around a 170? faction dillangers are 196cm with a 16m turning radius and a 86mm waist. its a super versitile ski, carves the shit out of groomers, the 86mm waist will keep u floatin in the pow, and with a true tail its feels right at home in the park and pipe. really u cant go wrong with most twin tips on the market but i thought i would share that becaues it sounded like the ski u were looking for.

dont get it twisted

176 madtrix mojo for more big mountain than park, I have the regular madtrix, and they feel like my old race skis carving wise, and i heard the mojos are very similar. or if thats to big and heavy, get something like scratch BC's

eh, the new lines are stiffer than the old, which rides really well. but then again, i haven't been able to get ahold of an '05 model on anything but line, so who knows. go demo a few pairs when the season hits. or go to hood or whistler this summer.

Just Huck It.

i asked someone the same thing when i wanted new skis and he suggested to me the rossignol scratches. i hear they are good all mountain skis and go in the park too

i'm happy with my mike nikes ...wide for the bc and stable in the park . they do get a bit soft after awile but iam likw 6'4 and 200 lbs so if you only like 5'5 they shoulde hold up and be reslly decent for you ....plus if you dident get mike nicks . some of the newer line models (cont remeber names) have power bands inthem with steen and they are lot stiffer . i oticed that alot when i demoed them for a day .

Fight the power Line skis since 1995!!

oh so thats what you call a getaway well tell me what you got away with cuz i'v seen more spine in a gelly fish i'v seen more guts in an 11 year old kid. have another drink and drive your self home .i hope there is ice on all the roads. so you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt . and again whn you'r head smashes thro the winsheald .

I'm about the same size as you (a little bit shorter maybe), and I have the 163 tweaks, and they're really nice for riding all over. They're decent in powder, and hold a pretty good edge, but also have nice pop on jumps. I liked the 168 scratch fs too, and it's pretty similar to the tweaks, and maybe a little bit better in the powder. I'm not sure how the scratch rides on groomers though. Based on what you were saying, I think you'd like either of those skis.
