I want to buy my brother skis for next season as a birthday gift. He is eleven, 4"9 and weighs 85 pounds.
he wants a ski that can ski anything (park and backcountry). I'm thinking a size around 160 will work for him.
the skis i'm considering are:
Moment Fast Fry
Armada Ar6
Icelantic Pilgrim
Salomon Suspect
Atomic Punx

Feel free to recomend any ski you think fits the description.
thanks

i would get him AR6's, solid park/all mountain ski and at only 85 lbs he should get some decent float in pow even only with a 82mm waist

Guys,
im not sure if the 161's would be too big for him
so im also considering armada el rays 157.

do u think he can handle 161's?
hes a pretty agresive skier.
50% park50% all mountain

I suppose the size depends on how much you / he wants to spend in the future. If you get him a bigger size, it will take longer for him to grow out of them. But I don't think you want to start him out with huge skis... Probably a couple inches above his head at most. And get him some youth skis! So cheap, and so lucky that he can still ski them :P

If the price is no issue I'd say support Moment and get the frys, but if hes young he may outgrow them really quick. Untracked still has 158 Scratch Pro Jr's for $199

I dont think he'll be able to ski a 161 or a 157. Defiently not 161. Im about 5' 3 and I ski about 160 which is over my head so for a kid whos 4' 9 Id sayabout 150, but I dont know how he skis. If hes really strong on his skis he may be able to handle a 157 but it would be quite a bit over his head.
