Right, so I'm going to teach my girlfriend to ski, and she needs... well, pretty much everything. She's about 160cm tall. Now, I don't know where to go on that one. I've never been short. Do I buy around 160cm, or do you go taller than yourself at that length? My first thought was 157 shadows or 158 sweet troubles or Scratch Pros or something. I could use advice on this matter.

Secondly and more importantly, we need to, well, buy her some gear. So if you have something to offer as far as skis in that general vicinity, boots in 23.5, outerwear, etc... please post here. Already have some ideas, but might as well try NS.

I'll keep bumping this, it'll probably take some time to get what we're looking for.

Try and pick up some scratch pro 158s. I was trying to do the same for my girlfriend at the beginning of the year. She was limited by money though. I ended up buying some old rossi cuts with solly bindings for 100 bucks though.

If she is learning to ski, I would definitely try and go shorter, make it as easy as possible to learn.

Definitely too big. Small in Siver would be pushing it. Good price though.

I'm trying to go as cheap as possible but for new or near new gear, not willing to buy junk.

i am 5'6 (165cm ish) and i used to ride a 164 1260 (skis shorter then that) but it was good to learn on because it was easy to turn.

i would say stay shorter other then going longer because once you learn to turn skiing is fun. if she gets frustrated trying to make turns on a longer ski then it might turn her off.

if she is hooked using the short ski she can always step it up to a bigger one later on.

i'm 5'1" and i ride 159 pes. i wouldn't start her out on anything longer than that. the shadows would be a good choice.

if she's looking for a jacket i have an xs orage masters chart jacket in burgundy for sale. only worn this season. no stains and not smelly. 20000 mm. $90 + shipping. jibij has it on sale right now for $269.

i've also got last year's orage masters down jacket in kind of a khaki color. size xs. it has removable fur on the hood. $90 + shipping.

if she (or anyone else) is interested lemme know and i'll get you some pictures.

giv clothing. brandon becker and blake nyman are on their team.

their stuff is so sick for next year. the best part is that most of it retails for $185. they will have a full site up pretty soon. http://www.givclothing.com

get their stuff from jibij!

cool. i'll check it out. is it skiing only or snowboard too? im assuming snowboard too since theres a snowboarder on their page

ill give you some 155 trouble makers from last year, barely used, been ridden 2 times in Utah by a small kids. Mounted with Salomon bindings. Lange Boots. I dunno like 400$ with the set up or 300 for boots and bindings

j.d., i've heard bad things about the sweet troubles all mountain ability. unless your girl is a park rat, i would look elsewhere.

check out the nancy for next year. the female equivalent to the seth vicious. scaled down as far as dimensions and flex go i believe.

i could get a phone number for the k2 rep in your area, and he might be able to get you a proform.
